Dreamshake, Wouldn't any trade to get a higher pick have to come in the summer after the lottery? Else, how would the Rockets be sure of getting the lottery spot that they want? Wouldn't Cat's contract be expired also? Mango
I really am extremely disappointed to hear about Mobley for another draft pick. Hopefully it's not true. We already have our own pick, which likely will be lottery, so why risk it? There are only about 2 franchise players in each draft, what are the chances of landing both of them? Or what if the pick we land for Mobley happens to become the 13th pick? Of course, I am in favor of trading Mobley, but for NBA talent, like a McGrady. I can only think of one reason why Rudy would trade Mobley for another lotto pick. By trading his second leading scorer for basically nothing this season, he would ensure a guaranteed lottery berth, and likely a high one. So, by trading Mobley, not only would he be getting another lottery pick, but he would raise the value of his own by depleting the talent level on the team.
Trading Mobley for a draft pick, even the #1 draft pick, is a crap shoot. You're basically saying we'll trade a guy that is finally maturing with his game and one of the more explosive bench players for someone that may turn out to be a very good player to a star. I agree with veggiehead, this is a no-no. If I'm trading Mobley, I better be getting one hell of a proven player. I'll even trade Mobley + a first round pick for that player. (Yes, I know, I'm also the guy that started the thread that said don't trade Mobley, but I'm just sayin'... ) ------------------ trade them all and fire the coach.
When Mobley was playing like he was playing last month ... I'd have pulled the trigger for a "promise" player. But now, he's playing smarter and truely adds value to the team. I'm with you Dr D, I'd only trade Mobley for a young, steady, proven stud and I'm not sure his value is that high ... yet. Now a Kenny + Drew + pick, I'd do. Thanks for the interview and the posting RF34.
