should the rockets go after an injured player?? I was actually thinking of Grant Hill. I think the Magic think they have a chance this year, and would trade Hill to help them propel through play-offs. Assuming the rockets don't make the play offs next year, they get an all-star coming back for them. Only risk is the thought that Hill was been injured past 2 years. The rockets have just lost 14 in a row - something has to change, excuses aside. I'm not going to mess with the real gm to work this out, I'm just throing this idea out. If playoffs are out of reach, would it be smart to go after an injured all star like Hill?

How about getting their starting lineup healthy again? You don't think that might have something to do with the losing streak, do you?

4 Starters are injured, one's playing hurt. Point taken, but..
Oscar? I think he can be considered a starter, hes a damn good player.
Walt? He's started in the past and he's a vet, he's no Langhi.
Kev? He's a vet with alot of experience, he should be able to hold his own, especially since one of the 'starters' thats out is Cato - who is maybe a little better than kev.
KT - hell I already forgot about Mo. Kt is playing awesome this season, hell of an improvement.
We have good rookies too, they just need experience I guess. But the thing is, we're not winning. We have the players, we're not Chicago. There's no excuse for losing 14 in a row.

There's a pretty good excuse for losing 14 in a row: without a healthy starting lineup, this team flat out sucks.

KT, Oscar, and at times Willis have been about the only bright spots, and they are still nothing to get overly excited about. You can't expect a team to win with two decent starters (KT = 1, Oscar + Willis = 1, since they're only decent half the time) and a few scrubs. Mobley has even been a disappointment at times; seems he's not a real leader, and he appears lost without Steve.

Bottom line: Rockets - Steve = Sucks :(

Remember when the losing streak started. They were winning before that.

Hill's not going anywhere. The Magic aren't going to trade him.

    Same likely goes for McDyess.

I'm of the opinion that we rely too much on Cuttino and Steve for scoring. As has been witnessed, with Steve out and Cuttino hobbling, we're nothing. Not only that, Cuttino's FG% isn't exactly been anything to get too excited about.

When we're healthy, I don't think we're anything more than 1st round playoff fodder right now. Once we get more experience under our belts, we'll be fine. How far into the playoffs we're likely to go after said experience has been gained remains to be seen.

I'd be for this, depending on who we'd have to give up. If Orlando is desparate, they might be willing to unload him, but only if they're desparate.

Hmmm, not a bad idea if we can unload Cato. But Orlando already has 4 average centers. They don't need another. Other than that, the Rocks don't have anything that we'd be willing to trade and is tradable.

Hill is earning 10.8 this season. Cato and Walt would be the only thing that works for us but Orlando wouldn't accept that offer.

Orlando trades: Don Reid $1,000,000 to Houston
Orlando trades: Grant Hill $10,865,250 to Houston
    TOTAL: $11,865,250

Houston trades: Dan Langhi $465,850 to Orlando
Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Orlando
Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Orlando
    TOTAL: $11,513,850

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Actually, this trade would work. They give us a big man in return and we throw in Damn Lanky.

I don't know if Don Reid, at 6'8", is serviceable enough. The other option is their rook Steven Hunter who's a great shot blocker. But I doubt they'd part with him.

Still pretty doubtful with a 2-team trade.

:), true. But Hill might be worse than twinkies and draft picks if he never plays again and he's a cap burdon, right?

If Orlando is deperate to make a playoff run this season, Hill is only burning a hole on the bench which is more than you can say for Cato and Walt.

I wouldn't personally make that trade if I were them, but I've seen plenty of dumb things happen.

    It's worth a phone call.

If we could have the Doctors give a rundown on GHill's injury, and status of returning, this could be a feasible idea.

The problem is that because he was injured when he signed his contract, no insurance company would cover it. If he is hurt forever we still have to pay EVERY PENNY of his contract. But if his injury is not a permanant problem (we've heard that before of course) than we might consider going for it.

We could trade Glen Rice and Kenny Thomas and they might take it. Yes, I love the way Kenny's been playing but with MoTaylor coming back and Griffin's ability, I think this could put us in the upper echelon of teams in two years......Imagine:

    Francis/Mooch
    Cat/Torres
    Hill/Morris
    MoT/Collier
Griff/ THIS YEARS DRAFT (Yao Ming??)

Essentially with Hill who is a rebounding S.Forward and Griff has already shown a Tenacity for the boards, this could be one of the best teams in the league.

With G.Hill playing Point Forward it will also allow Francis to play without the ball and free him up. Grant is not a selfish player so I don't think his touches will be THAT important. Plus trading G.Rice and Kenny will mean we will SUCK this year in a great draft year without having to tank and we will get Griffin and TMO lots of experience.

The Magic gets away from a contract that could ruin the already financially strapped team and allow them to go after Tim Duncan in full force. Plus they will recieve the Power forward they need and G.Rice to help them spread the floor for McGrady. They still have Darrell Armstrong to play point and a team of

    Armstrong
    McGrady
    Rice
    KThomas
Ewing -> Duncan in the Future

Will be better than putting all their eggs in one basket.

We on the other hand can handle it better if GHill never recovers because we have our core players already and simply need to resign them and so the salary cap is not a burden to us.

    Thoughts????????
