Houston trades: Glen Rice $8,800,000 to Philadelphia Houston trades: Cuttino Mobley $4,413,375 to Philadelphia TOTAL: $13,213,375 Philadelphia trades: Allen Iverson $11,250,000 to Houston Philadelphia trades: Samuel Dalembert $771,480 to Houston TOTAL: $12,021,480 TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Philadelphia being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Philadelphia had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Houston would also receive a trade exception of $1,191,895 with this trade. This would have to be used within one calendar year from the date of this trade. Be aware that this exception will be extinguished if the team which possesses it falls below the cap by the combined amount of the exceptions it currently possesses. This would be good for us because we would have Iverson and Francis at the backcourt. Maybe if Philly was dumb enough to trade AI for Mobley and Rice, this could happen with some first rounders. We would also recieve Dalembert who has played with Griffin and could help him grow into a player with a relationship like steve and cat have. He would also give us another big man. If this happened, we could purposely fall and pick up Dajuan Wagner, who is AI's friend. This trade would probably require Francis too, but with a backcourt of AI and Wagner, this could work out.
I'm thinking there needs to be just one thread for all of these hypothetical, never going to happen trades. That's about all we see these days here, as opposed to actual game discussion (besides, of course, the bandwagon fans blasting the team for soemthing they can't control).
It never ceases to shock me when people claim that Mobley is as good as Iverson. Mobley cannot involve his teammates as well as Iverson, cannot lead a team like Iverson, and is not athletic like Iverson. In almost all other respects Iverson is also equal to or better than Mobley. Not one GM in the league would give up Iverson for Mobley, and though Iverson may be overrated, that fact IS meaningful. Iverson has been the MVP. Mobley hasn't even made it into the all-star game, and this year won't be the exception!
Francis, Iverson and Wagner? Then we'd have a team consisiting of 5 guards (Torres, Norris). Are we trying to be the NY Knicks, or as they say, the NY Forwards? lol They have nothing but forwards, and see where it got them. Maybe we can then trade Griffin for Jason Richardson, and T-Mo for Tony Parker? To round out the roster, trade Cato for Tinsley.
