Just a heads up...hero will be joining us in the early portion of the show today...I have to admit, he's starting to develop Sam Cassell disease...ie elephantitis of the nuts....How does one walk with cajones that big?
Thanks Matt. I would really like to know where he feels he's at physically. He looks good out there, but I know he's not in 100 percent bball shape just yet.
Mattj, just a few good games for Steve, can not say too much for him, hoping he can do it more often. I guess that you have said Steve was not good enough to play on the radio when many fans called in to ask Steve to play, you insisted that Rick A made a good decision to not play him, last night one fan called in and call your name. Just want to let you know.
Thanks Matt, you are good on the radio, but sure miss your chemistry with Adam.* Please tell Steve he has played well within himself and we appreciate it that he isn't trying to do too much. Looks like he is trying to fit in to the system and the chemistry. That is the best part for me. *Good thing it's a sports show (only reason I listen to the afternoon show) cause it's hard to listen to Rich. Someone out there must love him.
Hey Steve has looked good in spots...There appears to be value to having him on the floor, especially in tandem with Rafer. It keeps the offense moving when teams double McGrady. He can be a valuable role player. He just needs to continue to be a good teammate. My only beef with Steve was not waiting his turn, earn the PT and let the coach make the decision on when you play. Everyone wants to play, but only one guy is the coach.
Hi Matt, you are the only a few on the radio who can talk the Rox basketball, like another poster said, I even love you and Adam comb, it is funny, and knowleageable.
Not waiting his turn? What are you talking about? Steve has been nothing but professional since he came back to the Rockets. He didn't throw any fit when Rick wasn't playing him, and he has been spectacular when the coach does play him.
Is that what that little wiggle with his leg out after the he blocked Marion was about? He was showin'em off?
While he didn't go Bonzi on him, Steve definitely made it known to the public that he was frustrated and wanted to play...on more than one occasion..."...I definitely didn't come here not to play..." Remeber that comment? That's NOT exactly being patient. Granted he could have been worse, but he was by now means an angel.
You forgot the rest of the quote "....AT ALL" Which means, he was seeing ZERO minutes and he came here to play ball, not be a cheerleader. While he was perfectly willing to accept a lesser role and sacrifice his PPG, APG, MPG averages, (hey bottom line -- good players care what their career numbers are, how many fans were mad when MJ came back and went under 30ppg) he didn;t want to be a non factor.
My point is that he wan't just sitting back and "waiting his turn". He let it be known that he wasn't happy. Do I blame him? Absolutely not. I can understand him being frustrated. But, he made that frustration public in a manner that hinted uneasy bitterness. That is not "waitng your turn."
Mattj huh? Well, you should have your mouth full when Steve is there. You guys really ragged on him about his being out of shape and being outplayed by all the other guards there. That was Rick's assessment I guess, but those of us who saw ALL of the preseason games didn't agree. Of course we didn't see the practices, but what we talking bout "PRACTICE? YOU MEAN PRACTICE?" By the way, do please ask Steve if he thinks he can play 35 to 40 minutes a game at full speed now!
