If someone sees Bonzi anytime soon, tell him that he plays for an NBA basketball franchise - the Houston Rockets. The hell happened to this guy? Jacking up 3's like its nobodys business, out of position, not posting up, sloppy on D - it looks like he took a time machine back to 2006.
Yeah, it looks like there may be one too many rotation guys...and with the way steve's been playing, bonzi could be the odd man out. It's like he's lacking focus out there.
I am wondering what happened to Bonzi also. I think he just lost his confidence after having those two games where he couldn't hit a layup with a ladder under the goal. I also think that although he plays most games, he doesn't have a set time to enter or group to play with. I think he is playing out of position or too many positions and therefore isn't getting what he is supposed to be doing or where he is supposed to be. That being said, he is still sucking and Im not taking up for that. He needs to grow some balls and man up to play the way we know he can. Maybe Rick can do something like give him more minutes to help him get his confidence back, because we will need him if we want the full package to contend for a title this year. We have many other pieces, but we will need the Bonzi attack to get to the promised land. I still think he should start over Shane, maybe that would get his confidence going. Shane isn't giving us much overall anyway. At the very least, sacrifice more minutes to Bonzi, taking Shane out, to get him ready for the playoffs. Until he gets his grove, we may sacrifice on both ends of the court a bit. Let the other players makeup for it because it will be what's best for the team in the long run come April. It takes vision and not game by game analysis to understand that. Let's hope Rick has that vision.
He thrived in offenses where... -Miller, Rahim and Thomas stayed out of the paint. -Sabonis, Wallace, and Shrempf stayed out of the paint. These teams also had a bevy of legitimate playmakers and consistent attackers/shooters. He doesn't have these things in Houston. The situation isn't as ideal as we thought. I still like him. He will always provide rebounds and impact turnovers. I love his presence when he is attacking. But he doesn't fit in seamlessly. Not yet anyways. So inconsistency will be... well... consistent.
Not worried... He's missing alot of layups - but he's getting a lot of layups. Some of it has to do with conditioning. He will be important come playoff time or injury to someone. Every player on this team will have his night.
Bonzi's biggest problem is that he's blown a handful of layups over the last few games. He hit a solid midrange jumper from the corner last night and ran the floor well (minus the time he didn't get back because he wasn't arguing over a foul that wasn't called--which I agree with him on).
should send his ass to spurs since they love to have him on their bench so he won't hurt them much everytime we meet them.
One of the things Adelman was praised for with that lineup was making it work with three guys in Bonzi, SAR, and Thomas who scored in the paint.
You know it is. As many have said before me, win or lose, come to this bbs and you'll still find someone complaining about something. I mean what would this forum do if our team was perfect?!?!
I like Bonzi and the skills he has. But mentally, he is shot. The guy is just a mental midget. JVG was right for putting him in the doggy house. And in a couple of weeks, Adelman will see that this ain't the Bonzi of a few years back. Bonzi is slowly but surely heading into the Andre Miller abyss...
well that wont ever happen. then they will complaina bout it being too perfect and someone needs to do something wrong. this bbs man..every win or loss brings a group of people in. after a loss: oh no why not steve, why not brooks why oh why after a win: bonzi is not good enough, shane is not good enough, steve is too good.
