What do u guys think? Have we solved the matchup problems vs the RUN and GUN suns? With JVG, we lose to them majority of the time. Has RA's given us a chance to match up at least evenly against them?

One game does not solve a problem, we just lost to them 10 days ago. If we make games like tonight more consistent, then obviously.

Our newly found guards;)give us small ball capability and Rick seems
to have found an answer with the Man to Man switches.... I hope this
is a turning point against the Suns but I still do not want to see these
    guys in the playoffs.....

Last night's game was great but I can't base my opinion on just that. But definitely the Rockets are getting there. I do see progress.

    we showed the formula:

shoot a good fg% so we make them take the ball out => at least slow down their transition a little bit

on D, switch EVERYTHING on the perimeter so when nash tries to go pick and roll, we don't have to bring 2 guys to him and leave amare wide open. the switching was key tonight. b/c we switched and nash had no passing lanes, he was forced to shoot.

The formula to beat a running team: Don't play to their tempo, make them play to your tempo.

i think the matchup problem is unsolvable with this unit. its simply a divergence of styles of play, and that style is better suited to them not us. its not a horrible thing to say they are still a bad matchup.

its nice to win one, by imposing our style for confidence's sake. we still are at a disadvantage against this team. we proved that playing transition defense and out shooting them CAN be enough.

U mean 2 games. They beat us at home w/o tmac, we beat them at home when they had a back to back. I think they don't necessarily have an advantage, but we definitly shouldn't always lose to them. We've been able to tackel the issue of them constantly doubling on yao.

We've beaten them quite a few times under JVG, especially in T-Mac's first season. We beat them once under Adelman and he's suddenly "solved" the matchup problems that JVG couldn't? Umm, okay.

I swear, the knee jerk reactions on this board are reaching new levels.

It's just one game. I mean if you want to make a very weak case the Rockets have won 2 out of the last 3 match ups against the Suns if you want to count last year. Thing is it took above average performances in both wins in order to beat them while the Suns were playing about what they average every game.

We played incredibly well yet I don't think anyone can safely say they expect the Rockets to shoot over 50% from beyond the arc every game, or to expect the Suns to not make offensive adjustments should we ever face them in the playoffs. So even with above average performances from the Rockets, the Suns still managed to keep the game close by just playing at the same level they always do. In other words, I'm just looking for some consistency from our guys before I say we play them evenly. And on top of that, I want to see it in the playoffs.

Our problem with the Suns before was the inadequacy of our offense.

When you play the Suns if you dont shoot well, you are dead, no matter how good ur defense is. You cant beat the Suns in a grinding-out ugly game.
Rox wasnt a good FGP team, grinding it out was our signature, that was our problem with the Suns.

If RA could manage to improve our FGP, and if could maintain a good portion of our defense, the "match-up" problem with the Suns will be gone.

You can't rely on rafer to shoot 50% every night.

The last game against the Suns under JVG they were in playoff mode and other than that blip they had been dominating the Rockets for two whole years. It was game over after 8 minutes into the first quarter.

One positive from Adelman is he's stopped the bleeding from the 3pt line against the Suns as he emphasises D there. Rocks were always in catchup mode as one of JVG's tactics was to force opponents to take the 3.

My bad, i was quoting what other people were saying. Well if that's the case, we've done a better job vs them considering last time tmac was out...
