T-Mac, taking a jump shot in a close game's last few minutes has been your signature this season. In all these close games we lost this season, the losing pattern mostly started with your jump shot late in the game, which never went in. In tonight's game against Suns, when Rockets were up 94 to 90 with 3:20 left, you took a jump shot again! My heart pounded because the scene looked so familiar. I was like "No, the losing patter appears again." Then Rockets missed 4 consecutive shots. But this time, we had Francis who took the ball to the hole, and Suns were not at their normal level tonight.

You have been playing great tonight (18/8/6), especially as a facilitator. But please take the ball to the hole when a game is on the line. You're more talented than Francis, physically. He can do that, you can too. But mentally, you need be stronger. Otherwise, Rockets have little hope of winning the championship.

He usually hits that shot. I agree, he shouldn't be doing it with a bad elbow and that sleeve over his arm. He needs to chill until his shot comes back.

He is still the leader of this team, was almost averaging 30 points per game before the injury and he can take that shot all day as far as I'm concerned once he's healthy again.

I guess he was worrying about his FT much tonight. If he tried to make a drive, suns should foul him and make him to the line...

"signature" this season? dude's been driving a lot. this has been his first game where he truly made himself a perimeter player.

his shot was just off. his jumper has not failed him a lot this year. average offensive game, good all around game.

Thanks, kid, I'll keep that in mind. Your words are an inspiration to my otherwise unmotivated soul!

Give TMac a break, he did attack the basket unsuccessfully tonight, and when fouled, the refs were not calling anything, not even for the Suns. Anyways, when you have a 7 6' guy clogging the paint it is very hard to penetrate to the basket. That's one of the reason why Adelman wants to put Yao at the elbow, and thats why we are seeing TMac attack the basket and dunk more than he did last year.

The same people who keep asking Yao to get more touches also want TMac to attack the basket everytime. Lets put this to rest, when you got a dominant center, its his job to take it to the hole like Yao did tonight. Kobe never attacked the basket when Shaq was around the way he is consistenly doing right now.

if people can only understand that. when yao is rolling, he brings a lot of bodies to the paint. tmac started the game penetrating quite often and unsuccessfuly. yao got rolling so we had to pound it to the beast.

they tried to isolate tmac at the elbow but yao was still near the basket and it was too congested.

    v. the clips, when tmac was isoed at the elbow, yao was on the other side of the elbow rather than in the paint. so he could penetrate or drive.

I do agree with the original poster in the sense that T-Mac should have drove 2 or 3 times late in the game. They isolated him on the wing and Yao was far enough away from the basket that T-Mac had space. I was yelling at T-Mac to drive from my living room.

It's OK though T-Mac makes good decisions and usually they end up paying off (giving it up to Yao all game + giving that last shot to Franchise) so I'm not worried if he takes a jumper or two when he shouldn't. I think he deserves that freedom.

But, like I said, I think tonight he could have easily drove it in later in the game and didn't. Maybe he wasn't confident enough to because of his free throws. Is it true that he tweaked his elbow? I didn't notice it but it would explain at least the atrocious FT shooting tonight by him.

Anyways he has been much better at attacking this season. Still not as much as I'd personally like to see him, but definitely enough.

I agree. I never get why t-mac doesn't get it, why he keeps taking jumpers.

I gotta agree. TMac has a love affair with long jumpers (LJ). He goes home at night and cuddles with LJ. But LJ only love him back early in the night. After LJ got her fill of drinks and dinner, LJ drops TMac like a cheap gold diggen ho.

TMac, let LJ go. She's no good for you. Drive to the basket or take mid-range J out for a date. Mid-Range J isn't as sexy but she'll take care of you.

I dont think Tmac couldve pulled off that move Francis did, some people underestimate the advantage of being quick and strong for your position. Francis brings that slashing element only in his case the defense isnt as zoned in to stop him the way it is for Tmac.

please... stop making Tmac excuses... all his shots in the 4th should be drives to the net... I dont care if he fouls out... on charges... id rather him sit on the bench then take those 22 footers...with guys on him....

thats like saying Yao shouldnt be taking it strong to the hole in the 4th... because they are fouling him...

so he should settle for his fade aways....

please!!! id rather our stars sit on the bench... trying for high % shots... than taking long jumpers or fade aways....

That is not totally true. Early in the game, yes. Late in the game, Yao was frequently setting screens for Tmac at high post...Tmac shot very well in the previous two games, a subpar one is due. Big deal. Why making all kinds of excuse for him? Bottomline is SF3 won the game, imagine Alston take that shot? The entire board might be mad at Tmac's 4 quarter now...
