Steve Francis has always been this type of player, which is why so many of us were advocating that he play. It's kind of hard to show the attributes the original poster brought up when you don't even play.
alright francis played a good game but dont go overboard. sura and francis are two completely different players. sura was relatively unknown when he first arrived but he turned out to be a fan favorite. he let it all on the court every night...didnt take **** from anyone and made sure people knew that. he had the most grit and personality ive ever seen out of a player. he just had this bad*** aura around him. lock this thread up. its a disgrace to the one and only Bob Sura.
POISE!!!!!!!!!!!!! he was just acting like a kid out there as to say: your homecourt doesnt phase me at all. and most importantly...TEMPO. Please don't misconstrue that francis walking up the court w/ or w/out the ball was because he was trying to catch his breath. That guy completely calmed down the suns' patented adrenaline and forced them to play a half court game. the last 2 minutes of an NBA game are for players like Francis. you can't simulate that in practice, pre-season, or underwater, or in a 0-gravity plane. he willed his way to put that ball in the cup, fell down, ran all the way down to the deep paint so that he could strip the ball from stoudemire....ball game.
There is no comparison. Sura skills and talents is no way near Francis. They are hard and determined players but Francis skills are way more superior.
the year before sure came to the rockets he had several tripple doubles. dont think he was really unknown.
Stevie Rocket 2.0 has had a few good games but he isn't Bob Sura Rocket. We are not comparing careers. We are comparing what Sura did as a Rocket to what Steve is doing as a Rocket THIS season. Hopefully, Francis will continue to get better as a backup for this team.
I sure hope not... if that was the case that we mean we would get a good player who keeps getting injured. And i hope that this stevie is here to last and not just a bob sura who is injury prone.
Francis's career averages(even with last years miserable season) are better than Sura best year. Francis was an all-star and still has all-star talent. Sura was a good role player.
Do you even know Francis's stats? 18.3 PPG 5.6 RPG 6.1 APG 1.5 SPG career average. Oh but he is missing the "aura" around him...
Compare Francis' numbers this season to Sura's numbers as a Rocket. So far, Sura was by far the better player but the season is young and Steve has plenty of time to keep improving. To be honest, I don't see Steve being better this season than Sura was for the Rockets but he can still be very valuable.
