Bah. I have been one of Stevie's biggest critics this season. I love this thread. This game was EXACTLY what I've wanted out of Stevie since he got here. If Mike James continues to fall off the map the way he's been doing, Stevie might officially be the sixth man we've been looking for. If we're going to dog him for showing up to camp out of shape, then we should be able to praise him for responding properly to his demotion, working hard and finally bringing his talent to the table. Growing pains, growing pains. If we continue developing like this, this team will be a real force to be reckoned with come April. The one thing that got me most excited about tonight is that for once in my lifetime, the Rockets have figured out how to matchup against teams that go small and try to run you off the court. The Spurs figured that out a while back. With a game plan like the one Adelman unveiled tonight, teams will no longer be able to throw a bunch of guards on the floor, front Yao like crazy and try to run us off the floor. No more trying to force the ball in to Yao when the pass isn't there. Put him on the move, swing the ball around, set picks, cut to the basket, make something happen. They're going small? Fine. We'll put two point guards and T-Mac out there. Give Yao a blow, put Scola at center and then rotate on defense like crazy. I'm loving this. Adjustments and lineups we haven't seen in years. Coach A is bringing his stuff. I don't think we're out of the woods yet -- there'll be a few more growing pains. But when this product is complete, it's going to look mighty good.

I agree and as I said above, I'm glad the thread title was changed. It's now much more appropriate. I'm glad RA hasn't been as stubborn as JVG and made changes to his rotation. I think Francis is going to be huge for the Rockets this season. Like you said, those who said he couldn't play are wrong.
I told you m'boy Francis still had game. All that stuff in NY was just a blip on the radar of Steve Francis's career. He's still basically the same player we traded out. We truly have Weisbroded Orlando lol. PS We all know that Rofflesaurus is really a Mavs fan.
yeah the thing i'm mos mazed with the control he has with his game. he played well in the offense and made great plays as the playmaker. its the perfect balance that we need. now that he gained his confidence he can try to penetrate more and finish or drw fouls!!!! hopefully this is the last thread we will need to start for stevie!!!!
What I like is that you have seen early in this season at one point or another, the new bench guys taking over in stints. MJ had his best few games early in the season. Scola has had a pair of 20 pt games of late. Steve may be coming into his own and despite his injury and inconsistant play of late, Bonzi has had a few very good games. We just need to get these guys playing well together.
ya, that's what impresses me most. heart + mind + ability has never been part of the rep stevie had. mainly always missing the mind part. I must say, even as one of the biggest Francis fans ever, I doubted that he was f'real when saying he has matured and is a different player. I've heard him say things like that in the past. But now his game speaks for itself. He made the right plays pretty much the whole game. The only thing I found discouraging was when they showed a highlight of his layup during his postgame interview, he was like "a few years ago, I would have dunked it". I guess I don't want to let go of the Francis who had the 44 inch vertical leap. But I think he can still flush it ... I hope so anyway.
I meant to add that he played within the offense, but smartly chose the time to take a player on one on one and his passing was good too. This is a sign of things to come.
I'm wondering if his "Basketball IQ" has been improved by spending more time on the bench watching and studying. He made several heads-up plays: The T-mac 2 for 1, the Scola assist, the foul on Amare to protect Yao, and the strip at the end. I like the new cerebral SF3. Now if he'd just put a little more arc into the jumper...
