It's an absolutely amazing game, but Dick Vitale is just unbearable. At the end of the second half as UK was bringing the ball up, he actually said "We need a stop right here". They just called a bull**** foul against Jason Williams, and I'm pretty sure I heard Vitale yell out that he'd love to give fellatio to him, but I'm not sure.

    He's a Duke wannabe and it's pathetic that he's ESPN's #1 college basketball guy.

Vitale's bias towards Duke is absolutely unbearable.

Nice job handing Duke the game by not calling that push-off at the end that put them up by 4, by the way.

    Pathetic......

That game was totally insane. I am not a big fan of college hoops but that game was incredible. Even when Duke was down 11 I knew they'd come back. Jason Williams is amazing.

I saw that "push-off" and to be honest I think Bogans was acting a little bit--it didn't look like too much of a push-off to me, but I only saw it once (didn't see the replay), so I could be wrong. Even if I am, you can't count on those types of calls with so little time remaining--you gotta get the ball.

Bottom line is Jason Williams flat out took over that game. Neither the refs nor Vitale scored 38 points tonight. I am definitely not a Dukie fan, but they, and specifically Williams, are just that good.

Guess you either love Vitale or you hate him. Duke is pretty darn good, though, so he's got a point continually talking about the Blue Devils' diaper dandies and PTPers.

Heck, not to mention that Duke has a recruiting class coming in next season like no other, headed by Shevalik Randolph. I think it's 6 All-Americans, and if not - the sheer amount of talent and depth coming in will make Duke a force for years to come.

They may lose JWill, Dunleavy, and Boozer this year to the draft, but with Duhon, Ewing, and the 6 new recruits, they'll be good next year and dominant years after that. If anyone else is going to win a national title, it'll have to be next year (Florida, perhaps?). Duke is just that good.

Did Ewing get much playing time? How did he look? I didn't get a chance to watch all of the game.

Typical Dick Vitale, he kisses up to Duke, whether they're the best team in basketball or not, and he kisses up to the ACC and gives NOBODY else credit unless he's forced to. Every tournament, and I mean EVERY tournament I've watched since 1992 he predicted the ACC team to win and didn't give the winning team credit. I'd prefer he just be the play-by-play guy for Duke and stop doing coverage for college basketball nationally. He's the only commentator that has a clear bias towards a team and conference and it's annoying.

The bowl system is so messed up. I hope they get rid of it.

Then you have to wonder why they called the foul at the end of regulation that allowed Duke to tie it and potentailly win it. Williams initiated the contact with his left arm with the KU center, and Prince had all ball on top. They had to let that one go, but they didn't.

Also, Boozer charged to put Duke up by 4 late in OT, they didn't call it. The last play, I just thought Bogans had a lame effort, that was more questionable in my mind.

Sounds like what they said a couple of years ago before UCONN took them out. Personally, Duke doesn't look as good as last years team (losing Battier plus role players) or Brand's team. They are definetely the best team in the land this year, but very beatable in the turnament where their lack of depth. Also, if JWill has an off game, they don't have Battier to bail them out.

It does suck the way Dukie V shows that favortism and the way the refs always favor Duke. JWill is great , but saying he is better than every point guard sans Kidd right now--meaning Stevie (are you kidding?), Payton (ar you kidding?), Marbury, Davis, and maybe even Nash, Miller, Van Exel, Cassell and Brandon, is pure BS. While JWill is probably the best college PG since Iverson (I think he played PG for Georgetown) and the best college player, he still is playing against college, not pro, competion.

Oh, and on the refs, they show NBA like star favortism except it is toward the whole Duke team. It is now wonder the whole Maryland contingent at last years final 4 starting boo's and whistling at the refs in the Duke-Zona finals after the same series of BS calls Duke was getting.

I've hated Duke ever since that 1992 UK game when Laettner should've been ejected for purposefully stomping on someone's chest.

RM95: Wasn't the Laettner Stomp against Seton Hall? Anyone?

I think SH beat Duke in the semis but went on to lose to Glen Rice and Michigan for the championship that year.

I love Duke basketball. I was a season ticket holder circa 1981-82 before Johnny Dawkins et al arrived on the scene. The lowest point of my fan-life was when Duke lost the Final Four championship game to Never-Nervous Pervis Ellison and Louisville. Those Duke kids were so-o-o-o-o-o deserving.

In the early years, the Duke fans were ambivalent about Coach K. The ones in my seating area were fond of calling him Ferret Face. Jimmy V won a championship in 1983 and that fanned the flames of criticism.

    He sure put them out.

How is that Duke's fault? It seems like you should hate the refs for not ejecting him! :D

It was a great thing when Vegas burried Laettner, Hurley and co by like 40 in the most embarrassingly 1 sided championship game in recent memory.

Vegas was awesume, damn NCAA went after them because they didn't like the Shark on top of pretty boys like the Dukies.

Oh, when Vegas roasted some pig the next year in Fayettville (sp?) that was pretty cool too.

Hey DesertScar, did all of those UNLV guys get their middle school diplomas yet?!

Normally I root for the underdog too but I became a Duke fan when they were the underdogs... so by all rights I'm staying the course.

On the other hand, I was a life-long Oiler and Astros fan (since the 1960s). And Rockets fan... yet again they are bad!
