The games just keep on rolling at the ol' bbs, but this time it is Hobbified. Now, with a five day span and an exorbitant amount of hype how much cash do you estimate Fellowship to receive? The winner gets to revel in their psychic financial powers, while the loser has to sulk in their over or under shortcomings. My guess, 102 mill.
[Random Potter vs. LOTR Rant] Sadly, I don't think this movie will generate more moola than Harry Potter. Don't get me wrong. I love the Harry Potter series, but the movie was somewhat lacking (Chris Columbus=average movie). I haven't seen FOTR yet, so I'll reserve judgment until Friday night when I see it. However, from what I hear, the movie quality of FOTR embarrasses HP (and every other blockbuster this year). As much as I like HP, I want the better movie to win at the box office. Hey, I'm all for American pride, but I think we should let Peter Jackson show us yanks how to direct a real movie. [/Random Potter vs. LOTR rant] My estimate: $200 million domestic Hey, DEANCURTIS, shouldn't the "ol' BBS" be spelled "ole BBS"?
DaDakota, I think he means this weekend. All of the sudden, I'm excited about seeing this movie. I've always been interested, more because of Peter Jackson than anything, but I've been reading some reviews (something I don't normally do before I see the movie since I'm a reviewer myself), and Harry Knowles pretty much said that this was the best movie experience he's ever had. For this weekend, I'll say $95 million. Overall, I'll say $275 million.
I'll go Price is Right on DBC and go for $103 million =) Over $350 million domestic - I think it's going to have legs. (I reserve the right to come back and edit after I watch it this afternoon)
