I'm not one to post a lot of messages (I do enjoy reading them however), but after the Miami loss on Saturday, and after I have calmed down a bit, I just had to say something.

I love Houston more than any other city I've lived and I miss it tremendously, but the fans there now are just HORRIBLE. Not only aren't you guys showing up for games, not cheering our team on, nor expressing any emotion out there in the Compaq Center, but when Kenny Thomas went down with an injury and got up on Saturday, I heard about 1 or 2 people clapping. Talk about NO CLASS!! Sure I have to watch all games on NBA League Pass being here in LA. and the reception is awful, but come on people...SHOW SOME FREAKIN SUPPORT!! And cheer loudly when such a player comes back into the game. Our Rockets are in enough bad shape right now and need as much support as we can give..I just wish I could be there to do it too!

This is just a cry for HELP...I'm embarassed of the fans there and we NEED TO END THIS LOSING STREAK!!

Trust me...it's much worse when you're there in person than it seems on TV.

You are literarily "preaching to the choir." Summit-goers on this BBS are whats left of the choir you hear through the TV in LaLa land. Please don't say "you guys." Can you imagine if you were still in this city that you miss "tremendously" and some Houstonian transplanted in LA pops onto this board to include all Houston natives still going to the Summit as "you guys" with "NO CLASS."

..."come on people...SHOW SOME FREAKING SUPPORT" for the heart n soul of Rockets fandom--the rabid fans at cc.net.

    You're completely right crispee

Of course I don't mean to include "everyone" in the statement of "you guys". I am speaking generally. I just need to hear more support from our TRUE fans here at Clutch! And try bringing the families along so we can get more in the stands :)

I'll be there to help as soon as I can with my Francis jersey too!

Yeah, I too take a little offense in this thread.

There hasn't been a game that I went to where I didn't leave my voice in the Summit. Sure it hurts & feels a little scratchy the next day or two, but if that's what it takes for the guys to hear me from where I hafta sit, then that's what I'll do.

There are fans at the game, and then there are those people who have the corporate seats & are trying to impress clients. Since that's who the Rockets have been marketing to, those are the majority of people filling the non-empty seats.

Perhaps if the Rockets organization decided to target the real fans instead of corporate Houston, more seats would be filled and they'd be filled with louder voices. But I'm not part of the Rockets sales/promotions/marketing team, so you probably won't see ticket prices go down and ticket sales go up anytime soon ;)

for years the Rockets didn't have to "sell" tickets. the tickets sold themselves. today, the product is not as good as it once was, but the price has increased. simple economics tells you demand won't rise or even stabilize in those kinds of conditions.

does anyone else remember the pre-championship promotions??? I remember 2-for nights...buy one ticket, get one free!! that was a freaking promotion!! and in an economic cycle like we're in right now, that might not be a bad idea. corporate seats are accounted for...it's the individual seats in the upper level that aren't being sold, for the most part.

bottom line: no pro sports franchises should "expect" sellouts. they should attempt to earn them. and it's only a sign of how crazy we've gotten about sports that the consumers are actually blamed for low demand!! I can't think of any other industry like that.

Crispee - you saved me the posting time!

Madmax - you hit it on the head!

it is crazy that consumers are blamed for low demand. The product, org and league should be blamed if people are not attending. Fans have to decide where there dollars are spent and I promised you people are watching if they are not attending. Sucks for you watching in LA though.

I've had seaon tickets for 9 years running and man, prices are outrageous now. Our seats have gone from $46 to $84 (90%) in the past 8 years, yet my annual income has increased about 50% (sucks for me). Now, I agree the Championships account for some of these costs, but funny how prices escalated in the non-champ years until last year. just because you do not go to a game or hear loud cheering on TV, does not make Houston or you less of a fan!!!

I talked to our ticket rep. last week and she said 60% of the season ticket compaq center seating is corporate. these are the only consumer groups that can afford the consisent outlay of cash, sans enron!

The NBA has an attendance problem all around the league, Houston is not an isolated case by any stretch. This board's national accolades over the past few years is an example of the "true" fan base. There is no other NBA fan site that can claim this type of "undergroud" fervour in the NBA. Let's get off the attendance/Houston fans suck issue, because winning and marketing cures everything and the Rockets do neither right now!

Let's go back to the Magic 102 two for one nights and win!
