If Mark Cuban can get Bennett Salvatore fired, I will say something nice about him. He's easily the most egregious of the really awful refs. When the Donaghy scandal was first announced, before it was announced that it was Donaghy, I thought for sure it was Salvatore. There's no other profession where someone could be as bad as Salvatore and keep his job. All that being said, to the Mavs: HAHA!
Yeah - it's funny to see people simultaneously complain about crappy reffing and then complain that an NBA owner tries to bring crappy reffing to the attention of the league.
The midget did get fined for his tantrum http://www.nba.com/news/ajohnson_071126.html Dallas Coach Avery Johnson Fined Posted Nov 26 2007 1:42PM NEW YORK, Nov. 26, 2007 – Dallas Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson has been fined $25,000 for failing to leave the court in a timely manner and for verbal abuse of a game official, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. The incident occurred with 8:34 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Mavericks’ 111- 107 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday, November 23 at Conseco Fieldhouse.
I have no sympathy for Cub-BAN or the Mavs whatsoever. Yes, that was about as blatant a missed call as they come. Welcome to getting screwed by the Refs just like the rest of us, Cuban and the Mav hoes. Remember when Sabonis threw in a hook shot AFTER the buzzer sounded and the refs allowed it so we consequently lost the game. Don't remember the year it happened. WHAT came of that? Oh yeah, we now have instant replay at the buzzer for end of periods. How convenient? We were robbed and yet, don't remember the NBA office losing sleep over it! I hate when any ref dictates the outcome instead of the players' efforts. Sadly I am probably still in search of that perfect world scenario ...
They have no right to complain. The Dwyane Wade finals could only make up 0.0001% of what was done to us in 2005.
"We didn't protest any other calls, but we certainly questioned quite a few that went for us and against us," Cuban said. I'm sure they protested ALL the unfair calls that went for them... It's stuff like this that makes the Mavs so hateable...if they went already from Dallas
This is exactly my point. You hate having bad refs and then you hate that anyone would actually try to do something about it. It seems to me you want to keep the bad refs so you have something to complain about. Why on earth would anyone have a problem with someone trying to bring attention to and improve the refereeing?
No Major you miss my point. I WANT bad, cheating, egregious, obnoxious referees OUT of the league. The Jake O'Donnells, Jack Madden's, etc. gone. I just think Cu-BAN just has little to no credibility with me after his little whiny, b*tchy stunt in the 05 playoffs with Yao. Granted directly it did not dictate the outcome of the series but indirectly it was poor gamesmanship and classless. Les would never stoop to crap like that! To me, Cuban is like the boy who cried "wolf" one too many times thus, I do now what the story line ended with ... I'm ignoring that jerk! Enough said. Like I said he's a politiking little b*tch! That's my story and I'm sticking to IT!
For you guys that love to hate the Mavs, they will lose to the Wizards tonight which makes it 3 in a row. During the brief bit I saw of the 3rd quarter, they looked lifeless and apathetic.
the problem is they only call out the refs when they lose.. what if they win? do they still call out the refs for the calls they made?
you guys need to quit quoting the animated gifs.. I have been sitting here for 15 min already and they havent loaded.. and I am on highest tier comcast. but I agree.. they get a good portion of favorable calls. bout time the spurs get some calls against them too. (even tho I am sick of TD's automatic beady eye "who me" look when call goes against him.)
just makes me thankful that our guys don't 'cry wolf' after every play trying to work the refs like duncan, nowitzki, kobe etc. when shane battier says something to a ref, you tend to believe shane more than those who flop or always complain.
Stern denied the request. He said something like this happened in the 34 minute mark and there was plenty of time to make up that one point. I never wanted a replay to begin with, but Stern's logic is flawed. A one point gain is a one point game, no matter when it occurred. I guess Stern just confirmed what I always thought about the NBA and other high scoring games. Only the last few minutes matter, because anything that happened before has no effect on the outcome of the match. Let's not give a free throw to a shooter who just made a basket in the process of being fouled. Not only does it slow down the game, it's just one measly point. There will be plenty of time to make it up
