offense improved a merely 1% from last year. Defense can't even stop my grandma driving to the basket now
defense wins championships but u gotta have some kind of offense, unlike jvg....adelman has neither...
I say defense 55%/offense 45% The Rockets have had leads and BLOWN them. Thats lack of defensive intensity, or intensity all around. With THIS team, I thought it was important to get off to FAST starts. Too often they've been playing catch up in the first quarter this season. So you need to make ONE more change for a more offensive starter (someone for Rafer, or Scola for Chuck)
The Rockets hold their opponents to the 7th least total PPG. They score the 23rd most PPG. You tell me?
When I read this thread, I see alot of rookies in here who have only watched about 4 or 5 pro games in their life. Even though, the six game losing streak does raise some eyebrows....the season is..... marathon. I would rather see the team struggle and slack off early than struggle late. This is experiment time....we are figuring what works and what doesn't....i knew we might jump out to fast start and then falter along the way and have fair weather fans and haters come in put the team in fire-sale mode. To the poster that said Adelman is not defensive coach or doesn't know how to coach defense....I wanted to say to u....that his squads in Portland ranked in top half of the league for almost 5 seasons, where in the top 5 for 3, and top 10 for 2. While he had three teams in Sacramento that were ranked pretty high....I would say that it is all not by coincidence, but he can be a well balanced coach when he has to I believe. He won't let the defense fall that much, we're still in the top 6 to 7 squads defensively, while the offense is improving. We did have tough schedule and have laid back a bit.....but I know this team will be where it needs to be in April and May. Trust me. Not really worried about offense or defense, both have shown flashes of brillance at times.
Rockets won with defense this game (Denver). Don't let the high score fool you. We were 3-18 from three, had 17 turnovers, and Denver isn't a very good defensive team -- particularly on the road.
Bumping this to show progress (or lack thereof after today's debacle). Before today's game the Rockets hold their opponents to the 4th least total PPG (93.7). That's up 3 spots since 11/24. They score the 18th most PPG (96), up 5 spots since 11/24. We scored 80 today, having the likes of Carl Landry and Chuck Hayes in the game at the same time. Is it any wonder we only scored 80??
