interesting topic . Couple of thoughts. The NBA states that the player must have graduated with his class. Suppose this kid takes some summer courses night classes, etc, and gets his GED . Doesn't the NBA's rule undermine achieving academic success...to graduate early? I should hope the courts concur. Secondly, Vengeance states that the NBA is a private consortium; however, it is composed of 29 entities. How can the NBA prove to the courts that the kid should not work for them when the league's members are willing to offer him a job? According to the reports Clutch posted, he seems to be highly regarded and a sure lottery pick. Personally, I feel that when millions of dollars are on the line, I cannot see anyone not taking the first chance available to collect on such riches, no matter what the circumstances are. I'm all for Mr. James fighting the Association and succeeding.
Look at what I just dug up. I remember back then, when I was only a lurker (many years ago), I read this thread. It was the first time that I heard about Lebron James, and it was in this thread. I particularly remember this line. Back then after reading the above article (no longer exists ), I thought to myself that this guy must be a really good player if people are talking about him when he is 16. The article actually mentioned that he will be the future of the NBA, I clearly remember reading this. And the rest is history. Well, that's it. I just thought that it would be interesting to look back at very old threads about former future NBA stars like Lebron. Sorry for the bump.
Brings to mind a controversial Francis-bashing thread in Lebron's rookie year when the topic starter said Lebron was already better than Francis. Ridicule ensued.
