OMG thank you all for sharing my same opinion...ppl i watched with said this player sucked tonite and that player sucked and I'm disagreeing, but unlike them i put the whole blame on RA for being a stubborn jackace.

Dude alston made some shots last game but he's the idiot that jacks up 3's without a set offense and costed us the lead....I'm serios the only guy i trust running the point is either tmac or francis right now and we need to start utilizing francis cuz you know tmacs not going to be healthy the whole season.

Eff Adelman and his most ridiculous rotation...he's really starting to dissappoint me!!!!!!!!!!!1

all i'm saying is if we win/lose tomorrow with the SAME freaking rotation, someone in the upper part of the organization has got to speak up.

I think if we lose tomorrow, Yao is going to break out crying. He looked like someone stole his lunch after tonight's game. And if Yao bawls, I think someone upstairs will speak up.

The rotation is not the main issue. Steve Francis and Aaron Brooks will not save us.

The main issues are our extraordinarily poor defense and the fact that Yao is not getting the ball in the low post. I had a suspicion that Adelman would plant Yao at the elbow because of Shaq and unfortunately I was right. JVG was absolutely right when he said Yao is probably below average outside of 10 feet, and Adelman has to be a total r****d to not see that and keep planting him at the elbow, but he's still doing it, even though this was one game when Yao needed to attack Shaq in the low post to defuse some of Shaq's aggression and make him work on defense.

Our defense.... let's just say I might make some shots given the open looks the Rockets have been surrendering? Or possibly bailing the offense out with very bad fouls, D-Whistle or not?

It is amazing that the same starting five could have completely forgotten how to play defense. Amazing.

i think tmac nails it on the head with our struggles:

"Whether it's defense or offense. We're not really turning the ball over; we're just doing a bad job of executing. We're not in the right spots on defense.

"Guys are getting wide-open shots late in the fourth quarter. Our rotation is all messed up.

not the playing rotation, but we used to rotate VERY VERY well to shooters last yr. this yr, well let's just say, we're slow like snails.

"Offensively, when we had wide-open shots, we're not knocking them down. Last year, these guys were knocking down outside shots like it was nothing. That's what made us so good. This year, they're wide-open. They're getting the same shots. They're not making right now."

and this is really true. new system/new whatever, the role players are just not knocking down shots like they did last yr. we were one of the better 3pt shooting teams last yr. this yr even w/ mike james, we're pathetic.

Poor execution of plays and of basic basketball concepts like rotating the ball around the perimeter to open shooters. Guess who that reflects on? THE COACH.

It's not just that Yao is not getting the ball in the low post and McGrady is forced to jack up the same tough shots as usual despite all the talk of creating better attempts for him. The greatest indictment of a coach is when his team does not execute his plays properly, to the point of not even being able to rotate the ball to an open shooter, bad defense, and consistent crunch-time failure. If you are well coached you are far more likely to be calm in crunchtime, execute the play the coach drew up, and get a good shot. Right now I wouldn't just take JVG over Adelman, I might take a garbage coach like Doc Rivers; at least he connected with McGrady and wouldn't have the ridiculous idea of playing Yao at the elbow.

Adelman is not just on the hot seat, he may have lost the team already. All it will take is a few more games on this losing streak, and Yao or McGrady flaming him, and he may be gone.

u can see stretches where he does create easier shots for tmac (the isos) but then when teams counter w/ double teams, he can only revert to pick and rolls. so i agree, he's not making his life easier.

yao should get 25+ shots in games like this where tmac is doubled. i agree with u our guards completely missed him WIDE OPEN on several players in the middle of the 3rd and that just pissed me off. but again, in games like this, yao just needs to go up to adelman and demand shots or do something. if one of our star is doubled, we need to go to the other one. yao was HIGHLY under-used tonight.

again, defense is just effort. we didn't bring effort as usual. scola was the only one with energy tonight. after he made a shot that brought us within 3, he pumped his fist. the rest of the team didn't join him with the passion.

Nothing surprising about it. Doesn't a plant lose it's green if you stop giving it water? When you don't practice something, you're not as crisp at it. Rick Adelman can't use the excuse that he doesn't have defensive players to play defense like he did in Sacramento. There is no excuse being lacksidasicle in preparation and allowing the shooting percentages the team has allowed.

Yao was underused because he was planted at the elbow. Adelman apparently thinks he can't take Shaq in the post, but he is wrong. After a clunked like this, do you still think Yao in the high post is a good idea? He needs to be back in the low post. I cannot say that enough. I wanted to throw something at the TV by the end every time I saw Yao stand at the elbow.

Defense is not just effort, it's also about being smart, being in the right positions, and the team being coordinated to help each other out. The coach has a huge hand in ALL of these factors. If the coach doesn't harp on defense in practice, you don't try on defense as hard, you won't know what to do when the offense throws a new play at you, you'll be caught out of position, and there will be little help defense and rotations. Usually the coach is most to blame for bad defense. Didn't Adelman get fired from Sacto because he wouldn't coach defense?

i still think yao at the high post is a great idea IF HE'S FRONTED. he made 4 mid-range Js v. the mavs since we couldn't get him the ball b/c of the fronting.

but against TRADITIONAL defense like the heat played yao today, then yes he shoudl be primarily at the low post. so you're right.

but i was pissed when our guards completely missed him when he was under the basket after tmac swung the ball out of the double and yao was RIGHT UNDER the basket. he waved his hands up a few times and for 2-3 straight plays, he was ignored.

Here we are under .500 and losers of 6 in a row. Rick Adelman is not doing a good job coaching this team thus far. His rotation doesn't make sense. As much as I love Chuck Hayes, it's time for him to go to the bench and become Luis Scola's back-up. Rafer Alston needs to be benched permanently and Steve Francis needs to take his place with Mike James as the back-up. The defenders guarding Hayes and Alston are not even concerned with them and just collapse on Yao and TMac. They can't do that with Scola and Francis, because those two would make them pay for cheating. Luther Head should never be bringing the ball up or trying to go one on one. His role on this team is to spot up and shoot threes or feed off of Yao for some easy layups.

The line-up of Steve Francis, TMac, Shane Battier, Luis Scola, and Yao is a formidable one. The current line-up is exactly what our records indicates it to be - an average team that is soft and won't get out of the first round.

I'm tired of mediocre Rockets teams. Houston hasn't won a playoff series in 10 years or so. Role players on the opposing team foul the crap out of our all-stars and nothing is done in retaliation. Teams don't even bother to guard 40% of our starting line-up. This team lacks energy and toughness, which are two necessary ingredients to succeed in the NBA. The changes above that many are advocating are exactly what this team needs. An injection of energy and toughness. Luis Scola's toughness, energy, and rebounding are all underrated. We all know what Steve Francis can do. If you don't, just go ask Barbosa of Phoenix who had to get 5 stitches in his mouth after an elbow from Francis or go ask Marion after Steve gave him a hard foul on a layup attempt. With this lineup you don't lose that much defensively and whatever you do lose on the defensive end is more than made for on the offensive end and in toughness and energy.

When things aren't working you can't be stubborn. You have to make adjustments and modify the system. I thought the slogan this year was "It's Time." What I'm afraid of is that we don't have much time left...

the same feeling as you! what a bull$hit team? no combination,no defense,no passion,no spirit...nothing at all. the coach should be responsible for it,no other guy! RA is much more stubborn than JVG,till now,he still insist in his "what he thinked" right rotation...6 loss in a row,let me see whether he will change something in next game...if lose to Nugget,it is no doubt to lose to Suns next...8 losses? hope not

Yao Ming has been placed in this position every season since he joined the Rockets.
Explaination- we don't have a real Point Guard in the Game- not one who creats shots for his team mates. Most Guards we have can't pass the ball with any proficiency to 7'6" Yao Ming. I have been pointing out this fact since Yao Ming came to Houston :p

Hands down, man. I feel the same pain. I am glad that I missed this game, otherwise it would be another painful night. Yet, I can't resist but still returning here, which hurt myself equally hard.

Sit Alston. Park his ass on the bench and see what happens. Adelman is a great coach, but he needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Alston is killing us. If Adelman has been trying to showcase him for a trade, it's backfiring. Plant his butt on the bench. Please.
