Well, because Kobe is a winner. If his shot isn't falling, he attacks. And he doesn't stop attacking. Kobe knows how to score when his shot isn't falling, or if his teammates aren't stepping up. Tracy? he'll keep jacking 3s even when his shot isn't going down. That "one-man team" has a winning record. The Rockets, with TMac, Yao, Bonzi, etc.. do not. Really? Then why does RA play Alston, even though he is sub-par on offense? I don't doubt that McGrady is a distributor, but that isn't his "main job". He's there to score, one way or another. And FYI, McGrady's only averaging 1 more assist per game than Kobe. Nothing more? Do you watch him? Kobe does what's necessary for his team to win, whether it's to score or setup others for easy layups. Of course Kobe is their go-to guy.. much like Tracy is supposed to be ours. McGrady gets more FGA per game than Yao.. so I don't see why you think he's a distributor and not scorer. I'm not a McGrady hater at all. I just think it's ridiculous how so many of ya'll thought it was ridiculous we even considered a Bryant-McGrady swap. Bryant is the best player in the world right now. And will be next year. And probably for a few years after. I just don't understand how Morey doesn't explore that trade. I also don't see why LA would want Tmac, but that's another story.
I completely agree. I remember JVG saying over and over last year "This team is not good enough to get away with defensive lapses." We're finding out the hard way what he was talking about.
these are just not defensive lapses. "lapses" means a few plays here and there. we're just allowing teams to shoot 50+% during this losing streak. this is not on one single player. our team defense is just very poor.
I agree. I think it was JVG's way of stressing the importance of playing consistent, smart defense for an entire game. Right now, that lesson seems to have been lost, and I'm actually quite surprised by this.
u know what? Dear blahblah, u alway got excuses for Tracy. what i read from your post is that u are so biased to Yao. I admit that Yao is not that good to let rox get even a win by himself. so how about tracy? If tracy really that excellent as u imagine, how come he never succeeded in playoff??? Im also curious why rox still keep loss streak after his precious elbow is able to move.Of course, tracy should be better than yao, they play different position, tracy is the one who can dribble the ball by himself, and yao is the guy who wait for someone feeding him. Is that fair if anyone wanna compare between them? what someone want yao to play like shaq is just like that u want tracy to play like kobe. is tracy as great player as kobe? u judge yourself! nobody like to watch rox get such heartbreaking loss streak. however, if u wanna bring the blame game on the table. Fine, look at the tracy's pathetic FG%. I love rox as well as tracy. but i do dislike the fans like u. Im really hesitate to post a thread to reply ur blahblah which makes me look like blahblah a bit. Anyway, i just speak out what i think about u and ur precious blahblah threads. Keep talking
i guess your reading comprehension or basic skills needs a lot of work. where's an online tutor when u need one?
I think the problem might be the players from last year not embracing Adelman's philosophy. Adelman's Kings never shut down anyone.. they just out-scored them. Adelman keeps talking about how the offense is struggling, whereas JVG's players keep mentioning the failing defense. I think I read a quote from Head that said they were a defensive team and it was failing them. Luther - you WERE a defensive team. You're supposed to be an offensive team now. But I guess that's hard to do when he's still playing Alston and Hayes. As someone in another thread mentioned, his Kings' team didn't have any holes on offense - probably why they ran so smoothly.
You're stupidity is mind boggoling. tracy came into the league as a defensive stopper. he avge almost 2 blocks a game in one season with the raptors. when he concentrates on defense, he is our best defender.
No one questions whether he *could* be a good defender. He is certainly gifted enough. We question whether he wants to be a good defender.
No the idiot clearly stated mcgrady has never been a good defender. thats bogus. Anyhow, the point is , a team that mcgrady is it's best player will never win a ring. he is soft. resorts to jumpshots when the going gets tough. hes our best scorer and player, but he just stops trying or uses he's horrible shot selection in the clutch. If there was an unlikely offer by the lakers to swap tracy and kobe, morey should be sacked if he ever turned it down. tracy is more talented then kobe and a better player when he attacks the rim, but that only happens once in a blue moon.
please let stop thinking Tmac is still a top 5 player... other than that 32 game stretch last year he has shot poorly for a very long time now... feels like Yao has regressed this year too... playing like he dosent know what he should be doing... time to trade them both... before thier values start to go down...
There is a REASON Yao is playing like he doesn't know what he should be doing. It is ADELMAN. Adelman thinks Yao is like Vlade Divac and is demanding that he should play that way while Yao knows he is better in the low post and want to be in there more. Therefore he looks lost and confused at times. Adelman needs to go. He is an epic failure.
Why didn't T-mac guard D-wade in the 4th quarter? Watching Wade attacking Battier and getting a few 3-point plays pissed me off.
stop comparing Kobe to T-mac,they're not in the same level.and it's okay that u didn't care about defense when your offense is good enough,but...
I don't know if anyone here has played basketball, but I have and I have played with playground versions of Rafer and Hayes. People who couldn't dribble or create shots for themselves and I had to handle the ball almost the entire game. Now normally, I love playing D more than O in basketball because offense is the easiest part of basketball. The best feeling for a ball player is shutting someone down completely and when I had to play with the above mentioned people, I slacked on defense more often because it is hard having to control the ball and set up teammates. Anyone here can tell you that I don't care if T-Mac or Yao gets traded tomorrow because all I care about is getting a championship for the Rox because it is long overdue, but I have to back up T-Mac here. If you are going to have him fight the double teams that Miami had on him in the 3rd and 4th just to get the ball and set up teammates, you can't expect him to guard the other teams best player for 48 minutes.
1. We absolutely need a player with the balls to yell at McGrady. He is capable of getting any shot he wants, and shutting down anyone. Yet he doesn't attack the basket. He doesn't D up. And still he has the ego to yell at players when he gets trapped and the help is late? Bull$#$t, someone needs to yell at McGrady. McGrady thinks he is better than he is. There is no worse quality, I am embarrassed for him. Sweet TMAC you are the most inconsistent superstar in Rockets history. Sweet... Even Pippen found a way to make an impact when he couldn't score. Freaking QUITTEN. 2. I have seen T-Mac shut down players. So he clearly can defend. IMO he is by far the most talented defender on our team. Ive seen him make Dirk look like garbage. Oh well, if its not game 5 on our home floor and McGrady isn't having a good day he doesn't care. He will half ass it. 3. McGrady can cry all he wants after a game 7 defeat. It doesn't matter. It worked last year. Its numb now. You lose TMAC. You are soft. You don't bring it every night. They neutered you in Orlando. Go rep camp Chenuwanda. Whatever. 4. Grow some $#$#D#$# balls.
