I second that vote! It seems Mariah's personal and professional life is on the rebound but I keep seeing Whitney in the news and the news is usually bad but I don't believe everything I hear.
Triumph! There's a blast from the past. And Rush, another great band. This makes you a fan of great rock n' roll guitar players, I assume. I don't know Emily Remler. Joni is a classic and I did know that Diana Krall was gaining a loyal following in the US, as she is in Canada too. Her last album was the top selling album in Canada for a couple of weeks, which is pretty incredible for a Jazz album. I didn't know that kd had that kind of profile in the US. She has a love/hate relationship with many people up here. She's from a very small town in a solid farming/ranching region of Alberta (http://village.consort.ab.ca/ And to see the town, the whole town, http://village.consort.ab.ca/panoramic_view_of_consort.htm). It's a very conservative region, so her openly gay, anti-meat lifestyle and politics have not gone over well with a lot of the locals. She did a television add (over 10 years ago now I guess) criticising the meat industry saying, among other things, that eating meat makes one smell bad. She ended the add by saying "meat stinks." They burned her commemorative sign on the outskirts of Consort for that one. She's a great talent though, and a unique individual. All very talented, yeees. I guess talent is a Canadian trait. Pamela Anderson can attest to that. (btw, Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian also.)
Judy Garland Aretha Franklin Mama Cass Elliot Carol King Billie Holliday Karen Carpenter Fiona Apple Pat Benatar Linda Rondstat Patti Smith
Natalie Merchant - 10,000 Maniacs Dolores - Cranberries Dido Belinda Carlisle - that song "Heaven is a place on Earth" ooh love! Sade SHAKIRA is Awesome!! Haven't seen it mentioned
I was not a huge fan of Sarah McLachlan until I saw her live in Dallas. She absolutely mesmerized me. What an unbelievable voice, and she sounds better live than on her albums. Amazing. Others I like are: Garbage The Cranberries Tracy Chapman Chrissy Hind (Pretenders) And of course, Lisa Kudrow with her hit Smelly Cat.
Natalie Merchant Emyloo Harris Sinead O'Connor Sophie Zelmani (swedish woman who had a big hit in 97-98, anyone know her?) Suzanne Vega
Hey! I'm a Bee Gees Fan.....the guy is Barry Gibb and it's called a falsetto, Smeg. Barry never did sing this way (for the most part) until the Main Course CD (which had Jive Talkin' and Nights on Broadway). BTW - the Bee Gees started their recording career in Australia. Their last hit over there was a good one and it was called "Spicks and Specks."
thanks Manny, knew all that, just forgot his name, do i need to talk to you about my level of seriousness
