Youre right on about Battier and his defense... I've watched him too. Over-rated... Believe it or not, Snyder may be a better defender.

I disagree about Hayes though... he is more than serviceable

battier does have that mental toughness... but... he doesn't show it. we need someone that excites other players by their fury. like bobby sura. thought mike james would show that.... but he's too serious on staying on the rotation. most team's allstar have that toughness... but yao and tracy don't

tmac was great up until the last 2 possessions (and he was jordan-like 2 games ago in the 4th). so please, judge him on his first game back from injury.

and adelman's teams were great defensive teams (top 5 in defensive efficiency many times).

    we have to be patient.

but adelman can't be patient at the PG spot. when u can't let your PG handle the ball and u don't trust him (rafer/james), use francis.

we need another guy who can create when tmac sits.

the only way for us to win is for tmac to play 45 mins basically.

The thing with Francis over Head and James is although Francis may suck as much as they do when he's in the game at times.....he has SOOOOO much more UPSIDE.

Head and James aren't ever gonna play better. Francis can and eventually will.

I am really pissed at YAO, he should hold the lead when TMAC on the bench, but he let BASS beat him so bad! damn it, at least foul him hard and let him lose the touch!

where is the LAST YEAR dominating YAO? HE can get into low post and score at will!

Yao still lacks a good feel for the game, or so-called 'killer' instinct, to step up when the team needs him the most. Forget about how to beat the fronting. Watching him having the ball in the low post at key moments but kept passing it out at the first slight hint of double team is jut flat-out frustrating. Hello??? Can you just attack, and forget about the double team? You need to show the leadership and take over the game when it gets tough on your teammates.

I am so pissed. I mean, Yao had a great game, but he simply lacks that last crucial instinct to go one step further. I don't want to say it, but let's face it, it may not be in his system. I am so disappointed!

This loss is unbelievable .. 17 points ahead .. when they started to close the gap, I thought any smart coach would try hard to stop the slide but if all fails
the coach need to order a player to foul hard on Harris .. look at Popovich .. he ordered Horry to foul Nash hard in the playoff last year when they were losing.. and the results SAS won.

I cant post topics so ill post it here... we need some good news today...did you guys know novak went for 18 in the d-league?

haha Atleast novak is doing good!

    Vipers 109, Jam 100

Bakersfield, Calif., Nov. 20 — The Rio Grande Valley Vipers defeated the Bakersfield Jam, 109-100 in a pre-season game in front of 3,136 fans on Tuesday evening. Despite being outrebounded 47-31, the Vipers took advantage of 28 Bakersfield turnovers en route to the win.

The Vipers started fast, jumping out to a 29-26 lead after the first quarter and took a 54-48 lead into the break. The contest saw Rio Grande Valley hold the lead in a close game most of the way before pulling away at the end for the nine-point win.

Point guard CJ Watson posted a team-high 25 points and added 11 assists to lead the Vipers. Gabe Muoneke added 20 points and Steve Novak chipped in 18. The Jam were led by center Roderick Riley’s 17 points and 12 boards and Brandon Bowman’s 23 points and nine rebounds. Kosta Perovic’, on assignment to the Jam from the Golden State Warriors, posted 10 points in his Jam debut.

Despite the loss, Jam head coach Jim Harrick felt the game provided great preparation for the Jam’s upcoming regular season opener.

“We didn’t have energy tonight, but this game will definitely help us,” said Harrick. We missed a lot of layups, but that’s what the pre-season is for we have learned a lot about our team tonight.”

We initially traded battier to be all about "winning now". NOW that it appears that Rudy Gay is developing faster than we anticipated (though he wouldnt be nearly the player he is now if he was under JVG), everyone is questioning the trade.

I'm not sure what side to take on that. To an extent, Battier is a bit overrated. He is a good team defender, takes charges, hits the open 3's more than our other players, and we know what we're going to get from him. But I don't understand why we would want to trade him now ... But if we can get artest ... hmm. Not sure. W/e.

Right now, I'm just questioning what the heck is going on. I'm sure RA knows what he's doing ... ? But it's just that our strengths aren't being utilized.

Does anyone else on this board see the weakness in our starting 5?!?!?! I mean 2/5 players are capable of scoring. The rest are set up as spot up shooters and a good rebounder. I guess I can see that ... But what happens when one of the spot up shooters can't hit his shots and we're using 1/2 of the cabable scorers as a pg? I don't know anymore. Maybe it's just my frustration talking.

And when will we freakin let Francis have a chance??? Seriously ... When I saw him get by barbosa with ease and draw a foul goin to the rack, I wondered when the last time a pg could do that for us ... Sigh. I hope T-Mac really is lobbying for more minutes for Francis. This team needs more fire.

I'M NOT calling this team a championship team... because they CAN'T beat the big boys... thats the whole point. Sorry man, I'm not ready to settle for mediocrity and only beat the "cupcakes". But you seem OK with it... so enjoy your average team.

WE DEFINITELY NEED TO GET SOMEONE ON THIS TEAM THAT HAS A MEAN STREAK AND WILL SPEAK UP IN CRUNCH TIME ON THIS TEAM. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF WUSSIES AND ALL AFRAID OF MCGRADY BECAUSE HE IS THE STAR. BUT TMAC, AS MUCH AS A I LIKE HIM, IS NOT A VOCAL LEADER THE WAY A "BAD BOY" WOULD BE.

This same rotation as last year just won't work, especially when our defense won't be as good. I just don't understand why Coach Adelman is so stubborn. Rafer has been proven over and over again that he can't be consistent. We have a former all-start PG rottening on the bench and a super-quick PG, who can't do worse than Rafer.

We also need to put Scola on the court more time. Granted, he did not defend as well as Chuck, but for the long term, Chuck is a liability in our offense. As we have all seen, right now our offense just won't work well when either Yao or TMac is not on the court. We need to get Steve/Brooks and Scola on the court to play...

If Coach Adelman still won't change his rotation next game, I seriously doubt that he is a right coach to this team.

He had nothing much to say. He really looked like he had no answers at this point in time. He said the team lost leads and momentum at the beginning 2nd and 4th quarter and he has to find a way that the make sure that the bench does not loose leads when they come in. He said we could not get stops and had some bad plays down the stretch. Overall he looked cluess as to how to turn this around and he did not seem angry, which JVG would have been with such a half hearted effort like this down the stretch.

Frankly Head is really a problem on this team. When he is on the floor, the offense gets stagnant, he is not creative, no handles, and just makes bad decisions when he is not shooting 3s. JVG used him as a spot up shooter last year. RA is using him at the point? wow when we have francis on the bench?
    Plus he plays 0 defense.

    FIRE ALDERMAN!!!

WTF! Did you see the numbers? It wasnt Yao who was driving into the lane and kicking it our to Rafer. All Tracy would have to do is score 2 baskets out of the 5 layups he passed up.
