The Francis question
Tracy McGrady's return to the court Wednesday against Dallas could lead to Steve Francis' return to the bench.

Rockets coach Rick Adelman said Monday that he does not plan changes to his rotation, calling Francis' first playing time of the season Saturday "a one-game situation."

"I don't think there's anything different," Adelman said. "It's not a problem with our rotation. It's just a problem with how we're playing as a team. I don't have any plans to change that right now.

"It's a one-game situation. He (Francis) played and I thought he did fine the other night. If you're going to make a change like that and incorporate somebody into the rotation that hasn't been in there, you need to have to decide who it is you're taking out because they didn't give me 20 more minutes to deal with.

"That's the bottom line. I think you have to be real fair and be sure when you make a decision like that.

"Losing four in a row ... you might make changes, but you have to remember you didn't have Tracy for 2 1/2 games in that losing streak. I think I have to be more patient than that."

Francis made three of 11 shots, scoring eight points with two assists.

Yao frustrated
Rockets center Yao Ming met with coach Rick Adelman after Monday's practice and without sharing anything from their conversation, sounded frustrated with his play in the losses to the Suns and Spurs.

"Particularly, the last two games, I didn't play my game," Yao said. "In San Antonio, I didn't get the ball because of the fronting defense and against Phoenix because of their speed and my foul troubles. It took me out of the game. I was gone, like I never went to the game.

"I just (have to) work (to get) my game back."

But Adelman described Yao's struggles as team problems.

"There is a combination of factors," Adelman said. "Without Tracy (McGrady) in the game, they really concentrate on taking him (Yao) out of the game. They're fronting him every time, they're doubling every time he touched it."

 

Every time slow start in 4th, no matter how much we lead in 3rd, we blew it away in 3 minutes.
Every time stupid strategy and poor execution toward the end. How in hell is this kind of team gonna make it to conference semi???

LH+MJ is simply disaster on court, can't believe RA still believed in it, and used it in 4th!!

Such an off night for Terry and Stackhouse, and they still get away. Shame on Rockets!!

 

I was thinking of the Suns game where Francis gave Marion a hard foul.
I just wish Harris got one from Francis

This pretty much sums up our playoff performances of last couple of years.

With a good lead, the Rockets needs to stop settling for 3 pts shoot or outside shoots with still lots of time on the shot clock.

 

I dont think adelman understands this team, you saw the way barry called out Adelman about yao ming's defence against harris?

 

[Look, I have never been a big Francis fan, but its time. One thing I know is Rafer is terrible and as good as McGrady is this team is taking on the IDENITY of Rafer and Tracy. I think this team would be much better served having the IDENITY OF YAO AND FRANCIS. I mean do we really think Francis would play worse than Rafer and I know he would not let harris bully him.

you dont need a ALL-STAR PG, you have two Superstars on your time and they should take care of that!

Not one FT down the stretch. I guess he can't take the physical punishment.

The few times he drove to the basket, he had his mind made up to dish out.

i have to agree. JVG is not going to make us better so please stop it. but i thought adelman would be more flexible w/ the rotation. morey worked so hard to bring in some players and adelman is basically playing the guys under JVG and we all know - FIRST ROUND EXIT.

adelman is becoming more JVG by the day.

i still believe but CHANGES HAVE TO BE MADE. this team has potential (we saw it in the 3rd) but when tmac went out, the team is GARBAGE. nobody can give yao the damn ball, luther making dumb ass mistakes...

adelman has to know the last coach was fired b/c he was stubborn. if he remains stubborn, he'll be fired too.

i'm not saying francis is the solution. but my god, we can't have tmac and yao do everything. we need another guy that can handle the ball so if tmac sits, that guy can do something to give yao the ball (and francis' ability to penetrate can do that).

adelman, listen to me, MAKE CHANGES. stop waiting. u said we were 6-1 before, but that's all on tracy and yao, not the pathetic role players.

 

Why would anyone be hating on Battier in this game? He was excellent. Who would you replace him with, Bonzi "2-18 in the last three games" Wells?

 

Calm down guys! I'm as frustrated as anybody, but with the exception of the Memphis hiccup, the teams that have beaten us in this streak have been together for years and have a combined record of 34-9. And 2 1/2 of those games T-Mac was out.

We still have a whole lot of cupcake games on the schedule, and with time together and an increased effort on the defensive end, the Rocket's will get it going as they did earlier when the schedule was not quite as tough.

Jeez, I'm about as impatient as anyone - I can't believe that I am the one preaching patience......

This team is getting weak. I'm getting tired of watching such a soft team, tmac had easy baskets that he coulda made when he drove in, but instead he kicks them out. What a f***in softy. Yao is so damn tired that it seems he fightin out there just to run back n forth. Pathetic. Rick A. = PATHETIC!

Heart is something you either have or not, I can see "heart" from two of our players, both of them play 4. Didn't watch enough of SF3 so no judgement on him.

 

Hello Rockets fans I am a first time writer but long time Rockets fan since the days of Jammin' James Bailey. The rockets did look horrible tonight especially in the 4th quarter but couldn't you just feel that the Rockets were going to all of a sudden open up a mighty can of quit.

Anyway we need to bench Luther Head, play Steve Francis, play Luis Scola more and get some players who will pass to Yao more and have the guts to pull out close games.

 

i wasn't suggesting we go get an all-star pg. i was merely envying good pg play. if u read the game threads i was suggesting we go out and get calderone
