    Dull pain: inflamed kidney.

Sharp pain: one helluva sprained ankle.

Well, I have not experienced every type of pain there is, but I have been told that the pain I have endured is the worst they have ever heard of - and some have already mentioned it:

    Kidney stones.

First, you don't know what's happening to you. This pain starts in your body and just keeps getting worse. You vomit, from the pain. You literally twist and moan and groan from the pain. If you close your eyes, you imagine that there is a large spear stabbed straight through your body, entering in the front and emerging from the back, and it's pure visceral pain all the way through.

There is no escaping from that pain, until you make your way to the hospital, and they finally get around to giving a double-shot of demerol, and then it goes away, at least for a while.

And all the nurses happily come in to tell you that they have given birth, and had kidney stones, and the kidney stones hurt a lot worse. And you are like, 'Uh, thanks?' for that little pep talk.

Then they take you to get x-rayed, and inject that chloride or whatever it is, which is designed to essentially go straight to you kidney and PUSH, so it can be seen on the x-ray, and it immediately overpowers the demerol, and you tell them they better get another damn shot in there for you RIGHT NOW! or you are going to hurt somebody.

And then that tiny little piece of crap eensy little stone comes out, and it's like this little speck, and how in the HECK did that thing cause you so much freaking pain??

And then of course you are pretty much instantly back to normal, the pain is all gone, and it's like it never happened. Weirdest thing ever.

I have suffered through a severely sprained ankle, and I have suffered through massive ear infections. Those are pretty darn painful.

And I have suffered through damaged cartilage under my kneecap. That is about the only pain I have ever felt which you could possibly mention in the same sentence with kidney stones.

Pray, pray, pray, that you never get kidney stones. And mean it.

    Seriously.

Physical pain can sort of be remembered, but it goes away literally after it has run its course.

The pain in my life from my mother's death is the worst I've ever felt... and every now and then, especially around holidays and the birthdays and anniversary of her death, it can be just as intense a feeling as the day of. And actually, the day of a loved one's death is often a time of numbness, so memories later can be worse.

Give me physical pain before the death of my mom any day.

I've had 3 burst ear drums in my lifetime... trust me, that goes away.

    A roller blading accident.

I fell right on my face and nearly broke my nose. I don't recall that moment because it is repressed....I don't even want to think about it.

    Aftermath of a gallbladder surgery.

I couldn't even walk for a few days. UGH!!! Just too painful.

Not looking forward to childbirth. :(

Sounds like nothing when you type it but duodenal spasms from a hiatal hernia. I was literally screaming , running red lights to get to the ER.

Rolling my easily rolled ankles hurts like MF for about 5 minutes.

The night I had an inflamed testicle. Felt like a wrench slowly tightening my right nut for 3 days. Pain slowly resided during the week. Made my gut feel dull pain too. Kind of like a infinite punch to the sack but different that it doesn't seem like it will get better. The random thoughts of cancer or removing it were fun. Thinking about it now is slightly making it hurt.

    Emotional pain's a different story.

When I was ten I was riding my bike as fast as I could towards the front door of our townhouse. I wanted to make the world's longest (or long enough to beat my friends) skid mark. My brakes failed and I went right into the door. My nuts went directly into the goose neck of that old bmx bike.

Fractured my leg when I was six at school. It was fractured right up near my thigh and I still remember how my leg dangled back down to a semi normal position.

I was laid out in the playground and knew it was broken.

Had to drag myself to the teacher and tell her my leg was broken.....and she told me to stand up.

Eventually they got an ambulance and I was in hospital for 6 weeks.

When they put it in traction the pain was terrible. Also the first week or so my muscles in my leg would spasm and that was terrible pain too.

Physical: My mouth after I had my wisdom teeth pulled and all the medicine had worn off

Emotional: the sudden death of my aunt. She was killed by her husband. Just the memory of how my mom reacted when she found out haunts me to this day. Worst day of my life.
