<Rumor> Yao might be going to the bench http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2007-11-21/11163308623.shtml Yao was late for team practice. Rox media officer explained that Yao was having a conversation with RA. When Yao finally showed up. reporters interviewed him. Here are some words directly from Yao's mouth "Yes, Coach did just have a conversation with me. I can't tell you what we talked, that's the rule. However I can tell you in the future coach might put me to the bench." "My recent performance have been not good. But there are reasons for it. It was a tough schedule. 4 games in a week. and the opponents we played are strong" "Now we are having a few days to rest. When Tmac comes back, he will be a great help to us." "Though Tmac is back, we still need to make some adjustments, be fully prepared in case he couldn't play."
There is absolutely no chance of this happening Sending Yao to the bench will result in an automatic death sentence for Coach Adelman
Wow. I'd love to see a coach with the balls to bench Yao. I kind of hope it happens, just to see the backlash on this board.
Yao should go to bench in the last game. if yao sat on bench during the whole game ,there woulld be a possibility that Rox maybe can defeat suns. but in the game with dallas , if yao still sit on bench, i think Rox will lost definitely.
http://sports.sohu.com/20071120/n253353856.shtml Yao obviously said that as a joke, and drew a good laugh from the reporters, who commented that his jokes were better than theirs. Of course, given the replies so far many so-called Rockets fans seriously want Yao on the bench. Let's see how they'd respond if McGrady goes into a slump.
not going to happen.hmmm except if yao himself asked to be benched at the beginning so that he can stay out of foul trouble and finish the game agressively.he will still get his minutes and will be more like ginobili.that's the only reason why he would not start and that is to stay out of foul trouble
Yao was joking in the conversation. The reporters knew he was talking with the Coach for 15 minutes and everyone so much wanted to know the contents. Then he threw out his usual humour. Even if Coach Adelman decided to bench Yao, I believe he won't be complaining about it at all. Yao could very likely be the only NBA star in the league that won't mind to be benched for the good of his team.
Does it really matter if he starts or not? I can see some advantages of Yao starting the game from the bench. It wouldn't effect his role on the team.
<Rumor> should be changed to <Humor> in the topic. Even under JVG and RudyT, Yao joked about being punished.
Who the heck would we start in his place? Deke? Go small with Scola-Hayes and watch our interior defense get shredded for the first 5 minutes before Yao comes in with us trailing and possibly both Scola and Hayes with 2 fouls? Even if his play warranted benching, which is absolutely does not (does anyone think about benching Duncan, Amare, Pau Gasol, or Chris Bosh, who are struggling as badly as Yao), we don't have the personnel to put him on the bench.
People are going waaay overboard with this. The probability is that this never even happened, that the rumor is false. The second most likely option is that his words are being misconstrued. "Bench" doesn't mean he won't start, but maybe that he'll be playing fewer minutes like we all thought he was supposed to at the beginning of the season? No matter what style it is, it pains me to see that lumbering giant have to endure 38 minutes of sprinting night in and night out.
why do i know you were going to say that? this thread has nothing to do with tracy AT ALL. if u want to make that point, there are plenty of other stupid tmac/yao threads that u can say that to.
