He's entertaining, but he also says a lot of nonsense. I can't listen to his takes on the Rockets without constantly rolling my eyes. The other day I think he actually said that Steve Francis and Chuck Hayes were the same size. He said that Scola could play SG. He said that T-Mac was only "average" when he plays the SF position. He said that Steve Francis isn't turnover prone. It's insane the amount of crap he puts out there while claiming to be an expert on the game.

Height wise, Chucky is only about 1 inch taller than French Fries.

Their listed height is 3 inches apart (6'6 to 6'3). It's 2 inches, at the least. And Chuck is about 50 lbs heavier. I don't think that's remotely the same size.

I can see Rick Adelman at home listening to this pacing around going "Who do we sit, though?" .

Grow some balls, Rick. You can get Steve in there...if you're smart. The longer you let him sit on the bench...the more difficult it becomes for Steve to get on his game. Then, the net effect may be setting the whole team back.

Well, a lot of us want to believe that holding Steve back on the bench is hurting our team. The only way to know for sure is to give Steve consistent minutes off the bench.

    I don't believe for a second that's true. 6'5, maybe. 6'4 stretches the imagination, considering he can't jump and he's a top 20 rebounder.

I guess you have never seen Chucky up close? Barkley was listed at 6'6" inches too, but he too is really 6'4" Can't always believe that their listed height is true. Players generally add about 1-1 1/2 inches to their real height, then add another inch with wearing their basketball shoes.

Sooo, I guess you believe Francis doesn't add the 1.5 inches to his height?

I think its just becuase he is really strong. He was a football player and has a build for one. I guess he just pushes people out of the way. Isn't he like 240 or something? He is pretty thick. I was reading a nba magazine and they listed Bonzi Wells as only 215. That cant be right he looks pretty big. He has to be at least 235

Same here. Calvin was OK for a while but I couldn't take him anymore when the Rockets season started. Calvin is purely living off his name because his Rockets discussion is full of nonsense, at least the parts I've listened to. His constant self-promotion and references to the past are tiresome too. When he says something significant, I can count on someone here to start a thread about it.

Gotta agree with you here. He says he calls it like he sees it, but he doesnt seem to see things very clearly. He did say some nice things about T-Mac yesterday though.

I doubt you have either. There is no way Hayes is below 6'5 with shoes on.

    http://www.insidehoops.com/chicago-camp-measurements.shtml

Chuck Hayes height without shoes: 6'5 1/2
    NBA.com listed height: 6'6

For comparison sakes, from the same site:
Luther Head height without shoes: 6'2
    NBA.com listed height: 6'3

So, is this (the real height of Barkley and Hayes) something you're pulling out of your backside, or do you have a source for it?

And I'm not assuming the listed height is true. I said in the first post that he could be 6'5 instead of 6'6. But 6'4 is just completely ridiculous.

All I know is, I've stood right next to Chris Paul and he's listed at 6'0. In honesty, I can't imagine him any taller than 6'10. That's how big the difference was between listed height and actual height.

haha, he got you there, murph23. you seem like a calvin apologist that may have seen players in person, but i'm not going to take your word over several corroborating sources. it is generally understood that NBA players do add to their height, but it's all of them (not just chuck hayes).

i just want to say that calvin murphy pollutes the airwaves. he was great and funny as a color commentator next to worrell, but he is just terrible when he tries to carry a radio show (for all the reasons durvasa mentioned and more). i wouldn't be surprised if even a station like 97.5 canned him soon. then again, tehre are apparently many people (including those from this forum) that subscribe to his nonsense, so loyal viewership may help his case.
