It's a perfect thread to counter numerous McGrady jock sniffing threads by TOFs/YOHs like you. When McGrady was on the court vs the Lakers, the Rockets were down by a bunch and had no chance to catch up. When he sat his ass on the bench (or in the locker room), the Rockets rallied and put themselves in positions to win. And thanks to McGrady's absence, Scola shook off all the jittery performances in previous games and played brilliantly against one of the toughest teams in the NBA. As for Phoenix Suns, McGrady's record last season was just as bad as Yao, so you don't have argument there, either.
well yao is just not athletic enough. he's one of the least athletic players in the nba which is a big negative in playoff basketball. Since there's more intensity and he'll probably be tired and slow by that time. SO he's a role player..and that makes tracy the only all star in the team in my opinion. When the game is close, everybody will collapse on tmac..so it doesnt look too bright
The one thing I don't get about some people is the logic in their thinking! Lets go through this step by step: 1. Kobe ran Shaq out of LA. As much as people, even Shaq to an extent, will deny it, the fact of the matter is that Kobe was not happy playing alongside Shaq. He wants to lead a team to a ring so why would he accept Yao? Some will same that he has learned his lesson and others will say that he will be the #1 option while Yao plays second-fiddle! Again, nothing is guaranteed with Kobe. 2. Kobe's competitive fire sometimes, or many times, makes him say and act in a j@ck@$$ manner. What other NBA player have you heard of complaining to regular fans outside of a supermarket about how much his teammates suck? When Yao has nights like the ones he is has had lately, and when Rafer and company start to build shelters for the homeless with those bricks, there is no telling how Kobe will react! 3. Getting Kobe is close to impossible. Who do we offer? T-Mac + Scola might incite the Lakers, but I'm sure they will ask for Head/James + picks. Thats a lot to give up, even if it is for the best player in the league. Even then, aren't we in the same place we were last year with Hayes and Rafer as our 1 and 4 options? 4. Let's please stop this nonsense!
I love T-Mac, he a unique player and I cannot imagine how someone could root against him like Kobe (I am a Kobe hater as well). However, as a Jazz fan (I'm from Turkey, so don't treat me as you do to Utahns ) I cannot imagine how we could have passed the first round against a Rox team that had Kobe instead of T-Mac. There is no chance Utah would win either game 6 (Rox had a late 4th quarter lead of 5+ pts if I am not wrong) and %100 win game 7 if it took that long with Kobe. However I sympathize towards people that say they wouldn't root for Rockets team if they traded for Kobe. Whichever Jazz board I have been to, I have seen more than half of true Jazz fans swearing they would stop being a Jazz fan as long as Kobe played for them if a trade happened. I agree with that, I can't imagine rooting for Kobe ever, I hate him since I began watching NBA night in-night out since 2000 playoffs. I think you have a solid foundation which is scaring the sh*t out of the other contender teams. Tmac+Yao can win a ring if they are surrounded by solid role players who won't do game costing mistakes like Rafer etc. I would trade anyone on the Jazz roster straight up with Yao or Tmac, not only because they are good players but you can root for them if they played for your team unlike Kobe, Shaq, Malone etc.
ritou (clutchfan member) = what (clutchfan member) they are the same person, just trying to make it seem like others entertain the idea as well...
The PG position is the problem with this team.... enough said. Find a "starting" PG (btw we have 4 backups) and so many things on this team will begin to correct themselves.
Although a better PG will provide easier shots, it's not like our players are taking impossible shots. They just aren't making them. No PG can change that. We aren't exactly a sharpshooting team.
but when kobe won, he had a center on 2-3 stratosphere on the rest o the world. tmac has a center that still is on this earth.
It looks like that Rick A is the first one who needs to be traded first, so far I do not see he is upgraded for JVG.
Yes oh great god of basketball. We have marked your words. Please enlighten us with more of your astonishing insights. We certainly have never discussed this topic before. Thanks for posting another god damn thread on this. Seriously, this board is going to hell.
1) If tmac is taking 20-30 shots a game, why not let kobe take those shots? 2)Kobe will react by taking the ball out of rafer's hand and shoot it himself, which is something i hope Tmac do more often. 3&4) Totally agree.
people start these threads thinking they're slamming Tmac but these threads promoting Yao riding Kobe's coattails to the championship are a slam on Yao as well. basically you're saying, Yao doesn't have what it takes to get there on his own merits so you need to bring in a winner so he can tag along and win too. if you are a Yao fan, it reveals deep insecurities in your favorite player Yao that he doesn't have what it takes to stand on his own feet like tim duncan or shaq. yeah, these threads put down tmac and basically call him a loser who cant get out of the first round. but it really doesn't make yao look any better. so basically neither of them individually and both put together dont have what it takes to advance? that doesn't make either of them look good, and makes you look like a pissant fan as well... if you're so easily willing to dump the stars on what's supposedly your "team." the rest of us... we've been working on something the last few years supporting the HOUSTON ROCKETS. every time this topic comes up i laugh my ass off... it smacks of that old dirty b*stard karl malone jumping to LA to cheeze himself a Ring. I think that turned out well for him didnt it?
Well you really can't say the opposite of if you want a championship, get McGrady instead of Kobe you'd have to to admit...But there's just some RECENT years history to show NEITHER Kobe or McGrady have really elevated their teams to great playoff successes. I DO think Yao on the Lakers with Kobe they'd have done MORE than the Rockets have with McGrady and Yao quite possibly because of the PHIL JACKSON factor. Other than there's more break-even than it'd appear. Didnt come on to state facts though, came to FLAME AWAY enough of this crap
