I'm just wondering what the record is for players out due to injury on one team at the same time. If KT is out Tuesday and Walt and Cato continue to be, that would be 7 players out with injuries, 1 shy of half the freakin' team! I wonder how to figure out what the record is. We've got to be close.
League rules say eight guys must be suited up to avoid a forfeit. I'm sure the Rockets would suit up a Cato, Williams, Thomas (or even Francis) and give them DNP-CD's in a pinch to avoid such a fate, but I'd hate to see that tested.
Actually, they would have to. You are correct. I know that Golden State, at one point last year, thought they would have to petition the league for special dispensation to be allowed to sign an extra player over the league minimum of 15 so they would not have to forfeit games, but they didn't have to. We are close.
Bad news: Carroll Dawson just called me up and asked what I was doing Tuesday night. I told him I was flattered but not interested in dating a man. He got impatient and said the Rockets would like me to suit up for them against Portland. He offered me a guaranteed 6-year, $44 million deal. I asked him if I'd get to go through the Rockets rookie orientation program, to learn how to be an NBA player. He said yes, but then he got all pissed off when I asked if it included a program on avoiding DWI. The last thing I heard him say was, "Ah screw it, we'll get Balke in here."
