Yao only need to be aggressive from the start of the game. Those a-hole refs are not going to give you any calls if you play passive.

He should say these in english at press conference. He certainly has the ability to express himself in english.

Yao complained about the refs and said "I am ready to be fined".

Seems he is not happy working with Hayes when Tmac is not in the court.

man yao is starting to whine like freakin' kobe.

either says it at the post-game press conference and get fined (and i mean say it like JVG did) and not to these chinese newspapers.

or do some freakin hard fouls to show who's boss.

whining aint gonna do u any good. ask tmac. thats why he stopped complaining like kobe. he never gets the calls.

Please be patient. I could not find time now. I need to squeeze in some time later tonight. Wait for 8 hours more.

Tell that to the superstars who whine and get calls. Yao really hasn't been known to whine up to this point but what good has it done? The refs sure don't reward him for not whining. He needs to start speaking up, er I mean "whine." Get a tech.

tmac does not get calls too but he just doesn't let that affect him (sure sometimes he stops driving which pisses me off). but the reason i like tmac is he rarely whines like a freakin kobe/wade/ginobili.

"speaking up" is fine. JVG spoke up and got fined. do that.

but please, don't whine during games like he he has. either man up and retaliate or do something to show what the refs are doing is not right.

whining ain't going to do jack.

I was at the SA game and Yao was b****in' at the refs a lot. I was a little surprised that he didn't get a tech, to tell you the truth.

Good, he should mention that he feels the NBA is racially biased against the Chinese players.

And watch Stern squirm...and the calls come flying in.

hhahaha, so yao "whine" and Tmac "complain?"

anyway, I wouldn't consider it whining like in the sense of kobe, with all the drama (eg. arm swing) after EVERY single call that didn't go his way. And that "whining" by kobe seem to be pretty effective.

On a side note, Last year Yao complained about the ref during press conference, and it draw some attention and he didn't get fined. The following next few game he seemed to get quite a boost in FT attempt..

I was there too but I don't think he crossed the line with them. From the quotes in the paper it seemed that he tried to explain to them what was being done to him but didn't go far enough for a tech.

exactly. i would like if he proclaims the lack of calls publicly and just calls out the officials.

the refs have nothing against him really. i mean he got a lot of ft attempts last yr and in the playoffs.

but teams don't front yao like this last yr so yao has to call out all this holding and stuff.

just after the game, during the post game news conference, just state his mind.

I think Yao is working at NBA league, and thus he knows the league well. If he think he needs to say or do something, it means he shoud do it.

That is what he should do. NBA will see broadcasting viewer drop by 100's of millions and sale revenue drop by 50% and Stern will wet his pants.

One has to be living in denial if he thinks NBA refs are all perfectly impartial to all races. waiting for them to change without some push will take for ever.

teams didn't front yao last year? Have you been watching games in the last several years? It is widely known for a long time that fronting is the best way to defend him, thanks to our guards inability to made a perfect lob pass.

Wow, Yao was seriously B!tching about the reffing in that article.

I can't say I disagree. But I'm not sure how things can change. This is hardly a new problem, and everyone from teammates to coaches have brought up the topic. But nothing's really worked.

The only thing that Stern cares about is making money for the owners anyway. I wonder if Yao can impact NBA's Chinese income if he gets really pissed, and start asking fans to boycott NBA products. It won't happen of course. But that might be the only thing that can change the status quo.

teams did, but only 2-3 teams did that that last yr (suns/celts/warriors come to mind)

basically now every team does it. the spurs never fronted him in the first game resorted to it the last game. so every team is going to front him basically.

I had great seats for the SA game and Yao was getting hammered. ALL THE TIME. Most of the fouls were not called. Yao complained. You know what the SA fans were saying? "Look at Ming cryin' to the refs! Ha! Ha! Ha!" He really needs to clock a couple of guys and get tossed, then raise hell about bias. Maybe after McGrady gets back. ;)
