IF Head had passed the ball to Yao to his right side, Yao would have spun and dunked the ball! That shot from Head was a two, and he missed badly. Adelman please just glue Luther head on the bench. One more thing, Yao should be vocal and single out such stupid plays.
Clutch, you are hurting Yao's feelings, and risking being called a YOH. Oh, and you forgot to type in ALL BOLD as well.
I, for one, have no problem with Luther taking that shot. He had the space. If he makes that shot, we are up one with one minute and change left and Yao wasn't exactly on fire. I like how our role players played, but last night was an example of why many people in the league think Yao is a stiff or not the best center in the league. I'm not a TOF, just speaking truth. Last few games, he has played like crap. I still have faith in him, but he needs to be more consistant. Luther is not an idiot, he wasn't an idiot when he was taking ill-advised three's at a 40 percent clip last year.
Luther's contended jump shots were never great. Last year, that he was able to reach 40% mark at 3-pointer rate was because JVG's half court style allowed him to stand still to wait for the ball passed to him. On the other hand, Adelman's moving style would not give him much time to stay and prepare for the shot. Simply put, Luther Head does not have as much value under Adelman compared with last year. He has no defense. Now his offensive value is in a downfall, too.
Yao did have off night but during the last few minutes, he was coming back to save us, he made 4 points on TD. Luther didn't learn from Rafer but chose to shoot 3 point while Yao got his position already, RA really needs to glue Luther to the bench (trade him is better solution).
Actually I think the Spurs took Yao out of the game with the pseudo doubleteaming before he got the ball. Until they let Duncan have at him and Yao got going. When Yao got the ball during the first few quarters he had to work extremely hard and therefore his moves were not as smooth and decisive.
The only one who can pass to Yao in all circumstances is Tracy McGrady- Head-James-Francis- Alston poor playmakers and poor at passing into Yao in any position or circumstance!
Considering Luther's man was standing in Yao's front pocket any pass he attempted was going to be a turnover. Mike James had the same problem against the Lakers. Either our guards need to start making those threes to force teams to push up on them, or we need to do something to make teams pay for that kind of defense.
u must not be watching very well b/c yao was far out from the basket. if he spins, he has to take 3-4 steps to get to the basket and we all know he aint that quick. if he had the ball (and he should have), he would have done his now main go-to play - the fallaway
Actually, there are drills you can do for this. I saw a piece on Luol Deng (nbatv) and he was doing some weird things. I believe it was with sand or something.
The problem ain't so simple....we all remember how the Seattle fronting left Hakeem a non-factor. I thought my friend was going to cry while that was going on because it was so frustrating watching us get annihilated...and Seattle couldn't even do it as blatantly as teams do now since 1) it was illegal and 2) Houston had better shooters to make them pay.
Clutch calls it how he sees it. Rafer is awful and can't shoot, it is clear as day, everyone can see it. Yao can't hold onto the ball and he falls down for no reason at all sometimes and clutch calls it how he sees it. YAO NEED TO TOUGHEN UP!
They did do it as blatantly as they do it now. Trouble is, the refs got tired of calling the technical.
