Hey guys, I have an emergency of sorts. I made a copy of an MSWord file from my flash drive to my PC hard drive. However, I ended up deleting that hard drive copy thinking that I didn't need it anymore (since I had the same file on my flash drive). For whatever reason now, I keep getting an error message that says the flash drive MSWord doc is "corrupted and unreadable"!!!!! I've tried every which way to recover it but, alas, nothing works. My question is this: is there a way for me to recover deleted files from my computer? I REALLY, REALLY need to recover that file, I've put days and days worth of work into it.
Would it work if I restarted my system after I had deleted the file? (hoping that it might have fixed the problem) Why would I Alt + F4? Doesn't that command close the current window?
You need to match your recovery tool to your file system, but try the following: http://ntfsundelete.com/downloads/
Directory Snoop also serves as an excellent file recovery/wiping utility. http://www.briggsoft.com/dsnoop.htm
I just tried R-Undelete and it gave me a bunch of files (including some "Autorecovery" files for the specific Word document that I am trying to recover) but I can't open it in Word, because it's not a .doc file I am not sure if I'm supposed to 'convert' the Autorecovery file or if it will do me any good in the first place...man do I hate computers!
