Um no.... Whoever thought they should count a wide open 3 from Rafer as a turnover is delusional. By that regard, we should count all missed 3 point shots from every Rockets player as turnovers. And with that, the Rockets need to stop turning the ball over. 30+ turnovers a game is KILLING them.

A wide open 3 that is missed by Rafer is more akin to a punt in football than a turnover. As any coach in the NFL will tell you, a punt isnt always a bad thing. And yes, late in the 4th, you would just rather not have Rafer shooting the 3 pointer, but sometimes thats all you got.

Edit: Actually an automatic turnover would imply a 100% miss rate from Rafer. And making one three pointer over the first 10 games would disqualify that. Rafer has hit quite a few of them.

I missed the game but what happened to ours "Spurs Killer"? I looked at the box score and it didn't look like the Bonzi from last week showed up..was Bowens defense what shut down Bonzi????

Without another perimeter player to stick Bown on(like T-Mac), they had Bowen on him and basically took him out of the game. Since Bonzi is not a jumpshooting threat Bowen was also able to help out on other players and recover in time.

Bowen's defense was certainly a factor. Moreover, Bonzi's shot selection was poor, he attacked the rim less than pull up jump shot with a defender in his face.

It looked like the Spurs were ready for Bonzi tonight, he never really got many good looks. When he did penetrate, he was typically unable to finish and several times slammed a shot attempt into the underside of the rim.

If Bonzi was looking to pass too much earlier, that certainly was not a problem in this game.

He was trying to be the Spurs Killer, a little too much maybe...

It awesome for the first time Yao was not fouled. Its amazing to see what he was able to do when people didn;t just bully and hit him.

    I don't think so.
If RA has no intention of playing SF, then he would have placed him on the inactive list. If Steve was "done" RA wouldn't want him in there at all. And he certainly wouldn't want to go through the home game chants for Steve unnecessarily.

Also, Francis really seems to be getting into the games now, from the bench of course. And I don't think he would as enthusiastic if he felt that RA had written him off.

but Steve is a way better SG than Head. Head absolutely sucks as a shooting guard (defensively and offensively) which completely boggles my mind why RA plays him so much. when he's shooting 17% from the 3 and <40% from the field, he's pretty useless as a SG.

Because as we all know, Head's percentages cant rise any more. No matter how many shots he makes next game, they can only go down.

Steve is not in there because of STEVE. Not because of Adelman, Head, Alston, or the tooth fairy.

I have only a couple of things to say.

We played great for not having Tracy.

Why didn't Scola stay in the game longer with his hot hand.

WHY IN THE NAME OF GOD DID HEAD TAKE THAT SHOT....I mean yao was abusing Duncan to bring us back and you take that kind of shot...

    Okay im done!

The giant slept for the first 3 quarters and finally woke up in the 4th...too bad it was a little too late.

So what you're saying is we're just a ski mask, a crowbar, a getaway car and three alibis away from getting Francis starter's minutes. Right? :D

I'm surprised at the bashing going on.
Without T-Mac, and still the game was close all the way. Rockets are a team to contend with.

If Head didn't take that stupid 3pt then passed the ball to Yao, we even had a chance to win this one.

    Hey,man.
    Don't blame anyone.
Rockets wouldn't win even if Rafer passed the ball to YAO and scored.
    3 words:WE NEED T-MAC!

Watched the game and honestly it's not a bad loss even though we could have won it.

Yao didn't have enough possessions down the stretch, Rafer was bricking all the time but at least he had 3 big baskets on penetration in the early 4th quarter (an improvement), and Scola showed to everyone what he could do.

Without T-Mac, Houston stayed in the game and had chances to steal it.

A very nice game, I enjoyed it although I was sad to see the Rockets lose.

3 losses in a row, and Phoenix tonight, without Tracy... talking about a challenge, it's going to be tough !

so many haters on here. we played a GREAT game, and surprisingly didn't have many offensive lapses. what's with all the Head hate? Head played GOOD. he came up with a huge layup in traffic when we really needed it, and if that 3 pointer at the end wouldve gone in then he would be a hero. I had no problems with Head taking that shot since there was only 6 seconds on the shotclock and hes our best 3 point shooter. He shot 50% and wasn't shy about attacking the basket. This was probably Head's best game so far.

you all need to stop hating. we played damn good on both ends of the floor.

rofflesaurus, you're right. as a hail mary, as a rockets fan you cannot fault either Head or Battier taking the game winner. they are normally clutch

but down by 2, with plenty of time for yao to make his move, after yao had just hit 2 in Spur's grill and clearly on his game, guarded 1 on 1 by duncan who yao was owning, with at least 3 more possessions in the game, with position 8-9 feet from the basket...

...there's 0 reason why head should take that 3 instead of feeding Yao. basically you're trading a 60+% attempt for a 30% attempt(head's 40% lifetime but under 20% this year... giving luther the benefit of the doubt and splitting the difference). 60% versus 30%... that means that for every 2 games you'd win with yao taking that shot, you'd win 1 with luther taking that shot.

It's a statement too, that you go to Yao or Tmac and ask them to deliver. They're you're stars for a reason, no matter how nice a guy Yao is it's a blow to any star's confidence when your own teammates dont trust you with the game on the line. Just give Yao the ball, let him experience that pressure and build on it. Trust me we're gonna need Yao to deliver at the end of games down the line than we're gonna need Head

It's probably all the competitive team sports I played growing up and what coaches drilled in me. There's no time to doubt or play numbers at the end... you trust your big dogs and go to them at the end of the game. Yao was hot he probably would have made that shot or drawn a foul. hate to see a team break down mentally and go for a hail mary with that much time left in the game
