I could see if Steve Francis took Luther Head playtime of 12 min, he should do better than 2 pts and 1 rebound as Luther did (at least the rebound should be much higher as Steve is a good rebounder).

I hope Coach 'A' takes notice of to night's game! There is much to be learned from it. One thing he should know is that the rockets have guts and a fighting spirit. Unfortunately Yao Ming must have been getting the wrong instructions as he was involved with professional wrestlers for most of the game , when he really should have been playing basketball. I didn't know, before tonights game, that the NBA rules allowed this multisport activity!!!
If this was a plan by the other team's coach then we have something deep down and dirty going on!! The Rockets should screem blue murder:p :p

Yao played hard, no question on that. But I just don't understand why there is not much Rockets can do to get him the ball when he is fronted. It is really frunstrating to see that many teams have been able to limit Yao's touch by fronting him. I wonder why not all teams would front him all the time. I was even wondering why in last seveal plays, Spurs stopped fronting him.

I personally think Steve Francis should play constantly every game with some playtime of 10-12 min to enable him to use his vet experience (his rebounding and clutch play not dribbling though) to help out in situation when we were down a few pts in the last min or so. It is much too ask for I believed.

    C'mon,you are a p***y!

did you see shaq can do that on your own eys now?

if you dont konw basketball, you should shut up.

the key is how our PGs run the game and pall the ball to YAO.YAO has done all his best.

did you see he hit the clutch shots?

or maybe you are a YOH!

    I really despise you!

Definately, someone needs to teach these guys how to pass to the post. They don't seem to know how when someone is fronting Yao and Yao needs to learn how to block out his man when he is getting fronted. The Spurs showed exactly how it's done when we tried to front Duncan, Duncan gets fronted and screens his man away from the basket while they throw it to the top of the key and straight down to Timmy for an easy bucket. Yao is freaking 7'6", he has 6-8 inches on his defender, you could even lob the ball over to him. Poor game planning and execution, this game could have been a winner.

Whey they front Yao they usually have double-team too. Really need someone who can make open shots, but so far this is getting worse than last season.

Offense improved esp. Scola: inspiring tonight. Maybe playing against the Spur has him fired up. MJ and Rafer took it inside and had some nice layup but still hitting low % for jumpers. I thought Yao suppose to be the leader of the team when they need him the most with Tmac out. But after 6 years with highest senority I understand why he's not the leader nor will ever be one. Just pathetic :(
What has Yao's wife done to him??? Pamper him too much??? cuz he's soft like marshmallow soft.

Tonight the Spurs were very willing to surrender the open lanes to the basket (because a potential help defender is putting himself out of position to cut off the drive) and the open jump shots. Usually after a few successful drives or open jumpers the defense gives up the front and goes back to playing behind.... but the Spurs kept up the fronting until the last 5 minutes. Unfortunately I expect the same from the Suns tomorrow.

I thought the first play in the second half was designed to solve the fronting. But Rockets only played it once.

I also thought when Yao gets fronted, other rocket players should clear the strong side so the passer can thow the ball over the fronting player. Because it was crowded, our passer never dared to throw the ball over.

Rafer Alston played 43 mins tonight!!!!???!!?

I'm having flashbacks of last season under JVG.

    It's absolutely ridiculous.

    Luther Head with 27 mins!!!!???!!?!

What has he done other than suck to deserve more mins?

The backcourt of Rafer and MJ is a disaster waiting to happen.

Steve Francis has to play for the Rockets to be contenders.

He is the consistent 3rd scorer that the Rockets need.

Too many times w/ and w/o TMac the offense becomes stagnant because people just watch McGrady. Steve will penetrate and create for himself and others. Currently, if TMac doesn't make a play or if he's out the game, the Rockets' offense is anemic. People just dribble the ball around. Francis will create and this is something Mike James really can't do and Rafer can't do at all - except create bricks.

What does Rafer Alston have to do to get benched? He's a horrible player and he's had a lot of run-ins with the law. When people perform their jobs poorly, they should not be rewarded and this is the case in any work environment - especially if you have better substitutes that you're not utilizing.

Let's not waster another season of Yao (in his prime) and TMac (who isn't too far removed from his prime) together.

    We Want Steve!

Those were 2 really bad calls on Yao.

On the second one, where Ginobili stripped him, Yao was holding onto the ball with one hand way below his shoulder. I suggest Yao work with Deke on keeping the ball high/elbows out and swinging after defensive rebounds in traffic.

    i don't know why ya'll complaining.

our offense looked GOOD despite yao's struggles. we actually ran the offense w/o tmac and we got good shots. the shots that scola took will ALWAYS be there for him if he wants them. and if he can knock those down w/ consistency, our offense will go to another level.

battier finally returned to his normal shooting ways. james and alston shot decent (not bad that i have headaches).

only head and hayes and BONZI (the supposed spur killer) were sore points, along with yao turnovers.

but we looked good. we looked competitive. we played a team who wanted to avenge a loss earlier and also who wanted to redeemed themselves after a bad loss to dallas. we stayed with them for 45 mins w/o our best player. that's a great sign to see.

now when tmac returns, if our role players continue to move and rotate around our 2 stars, they will get easier shots b/c our stars are such good passers and unselfish players.

once again, the ONLY efficient way to stop the fronting is the tmac-yao pick and roll. we saw that v. the bobcats. they pick their poison in that play. if they want to leave yao open, he gets dunks. if they stay with yao, tmac will make a good play.

but again, i'm excited. tmac's injury is a blessing. it forced guys like scola/battier to finally step up. this might be the game that gives the role players (particularly scola) confidence going forward.

    and please people, stop panicking.

PS - yes steve didn't play again. but if head keeps playing this way, he's going to play himself out of the rotation. rafer and james will get their minutes. if francis is going to play, it's going to be from head.

i guess they don't front if duncan is on him, which he was down the stretch and yao killed him.

again, yao will struggle v. fronting defenses most of the time. we just have to find ways to give him the ball in positions where he can finish w/ ease (dunks/layups) or where he can make passes to cutters (high post).
