Hm...I haven't seen Permian in person yet..but I've seen Carroll and Trinity several times each year for the last 7 years or so. I think the Carroll team that lost to Katy in the finals in 2003 were better than this current Carroll team. Dodge is a nervous wreck, and their defense is Not what it used to be.
Haven't seen Katy yet, but if Carroll gets to them..might see another Katy win.

Although they're good, Trinity is not what they used to be either. Like North Shore, they have an easy district this year. A team to watch out for from DFW would be the Allen Eagles. They play a tougher schedule, and are undefeated so far this year.

Your D-I semifinalist matchup will probably be Permian vs. Allen..just my prediction. Wish I knew Houston teams..but I haven't even seen my beloved North Shore Mustangs play since my senior year 90-91.

yeah..yeah..RRJGAMZ...we'll see your little Pearland Oilers for some revenge next week.

The largest school, by enrollment, that qualifies for the playoffs from each district, will play in the D-I playoffs regardless of where they finish in the standings.

not exactly true. Only the top 4 teams in each 5A district advance to the playoffs. The 2 largest schools out of those 4 go to D-I. the 2 smaller schools go D-II. If the largest school in the district places 5th in the standings..they Don't make the playoffs.

In class 4A-1A, they still take only 3 teams, with 1 team going D-I, and the other two go D-II.

1A used to be divided into 1A and Six man. 2 years ago, they made 6-Man its own class, and divided 1A and Six-Man into 2 divisions as well. Sorry, but 6-Man Division I and 6-Man Division II...thats just plain insane. I wish they'd do away with the Divisions all-together. There should be only 1 State Champion for class...not 2. Have 6 per year...not 12.

So you're a T-shirt fan like me. I understand. The only thing my real high school has done since the Sam Adams days in the mid-90's is get hurdled by Sam McGuffie on YouTube...

Here are some sites I use to follow Permian: (They have video highlights and pictures from all their games)

    And here's their bbs:

When I played, it only went to 4A. Nice, simple. (I also think there was a B back then.)

I did hear about 5A when they started it, but the division thing is new to me... and I must say, is ridiculous. If you're going to have 2 divisions, you should have it that way all season, not just for the playoffs.

Problem is, it changes every season. One Division II school has a freshman boom, if you will, and knocks another school out of Division I.

That's what happened to Southlake Carroll this year, which could have a HUGE impact on both divisions. Good news for Permian, bad news for Katy.

We (The Stratford Spartans) play the Chavez Lobos tommorow night at 7 30 at Darrell Tully Stadium. We have the top quarterback in Texas in Andrew Luck, should be a win for us and a good game overall.

    Katy CHEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    they use ineligible players!

My old high school, um, we finished third to last at 2-8. There are 8 teams in the district.

I think four teams is fair now because some schools are really good, but will not make the playoffs, but the trade off is sorry schools will also make it.

I don't think private schools should be in the UIL playoffs (strake jez) because it's a private school, and it's basically recruiting.

Clements is 10-0, time to make some noise. It was tough losing to Brazoswood last year when we had the lead. We'll make up for it this year.

Anyone know who our QB is?

He's the little brother of a recently traded Texans QB ;)

    Odessa Permian 60
    Mansfield 21

Next up, El Paso Montwood. Then (most likely) Euless Trinity...

    How did your team do?

Not a damn thing. Johnson City got smoked; Marble Falls & San Saba didn't make the playoffs. No idea if my HS is even in the playoffs, couldn't find TAPPS brackets anywhere.

Guess I'll have to adopt RM95's Tigers for the rest of the playoffs.

My adopted team for the playoffs: Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. They beat my dad's school, San Marcos Baptist Academy to get into the playoffs, and then beat my brother's school, Beaumont Legacy Christian Academy in the first round. I'm on the bandwagond for TSD to win the TAPPS D3 State Championship. Up next, Austin Regents.

We played those guys when I was in HS.

Do they still use the bass drum for snapcounts?

i'ts hard to cheer for 17-5A, cause I hate those schools. I'll cheer for my school, but I dislike them too.

I think I'll jump the Cy-Falls bandwagon over Cy-Fair. Cy-Ridge is too new for me to hate.
Strake is Strake, so screw them.

I know Cy-Fair won because Craig James scored four touchdowns and 270 yards.
