As old school as it gets I know, but hands up fans of this movie. Or book. I just only recently read the book, which is why i start this thread now...there's so much more crazy stuff added in there. i had no idea until i did a little googling, that S Morganstern was just a figment of Goldman's imagination. At first with the book i was thinking wtf?? all this extra carry on about the history of the charachters and going into more detail yada yada...but warmed to it soon enough. very cool.
I have seen many movies where I didn't realize they were based on books until much later. I can now add this one to that list.
find the book!! its very enlightening...it will blow your mind its pretty different and just a lot more detailed. ie you get to find out how Fezzik got to be unemployed in Greenland...
I've always loved this movie no matter how many times I've seen it. I'm just really confused about what the hell happened to Cary Elwes when he was in SAW. Did he go r****ded on his acting or something?
there's a gift set out that has the movie and a t-shirt of Andre the Giant with it. it's $17 at Best Buy

It's a great movie. Terrific supporting players, many memorable scenes, and it earns it's lovey-dovey moments by having a bit of edge and cynicism with the material.
Great moive, great book. No complaints. I think I may have watched that movie everyday for about 2 months when it first came out on VHS. I still shout "Inconceivable!!!" about certain things. Good times Im glad they never tainted it with a sequel, or god forbid, a remake (which Im sure will be coming in the next five years or so...).
My favorite all time movie quote. I still watch everything Mandy Patinkin is in because of this movie.
Funny you should say that: the printing of "The Princess Bride" that I have includes the first chapter of the sequel that, I can only assume, Goldman is still writing: "Buttercup's Baby". But this edition is at least 4 years old. Has anyone heard about a sequel to the first novel? You are, of course, referring to the R.O.U.S. - the rodents of unusual size, correct?
Rodents of Unusual Size? ...I dont think they exist. UF!!! Going to have to watch this tonight now...
