Hahahaha. That is absolutely hilarious. Phil Jackson has had some great quotes and this is one of them.
Haha Phil's apology was great. What a smartass. "If I have offended any cowboys, any horses, any Texans, I am sorry."
Phil Jackson is my hero. He should fill in for Jay Leno definitely. All of these politically correct, uptight idiots making a big fuss out of this joke should be shot in the butt with a poison dart.
That was too good. Hahaha. The apology was classic. I wish someone would YouTube that for sure. Penetration and kick outs...haha. It's even better than the time he called Radmanovich a Space Cadet because he's always drifiting away from the Triangle offense. I thought that was really funny, I doubt most other people did, though.
Hmmmm. Because we all know a fictitious character based movie is a new race of humanoids. "Preference" does not equal "race." Sorry.
Intolerance? No literacy. Understanding of language and words. A certain color of skin = race... you cannot wake up one day and suddenly realize you are a different race (unless you are Steve Martin in "The Jerk"). Meanwhile, it seems to happen all the time with people's sexuality... Certain people claim to wake one day, after a series of events in their lives, and then come to terms with the fact that they are of a different persuasion than once thought (it has been discussed often in the D&D for instance). I've heard of heterosexuals coming to terms with their homosexuality, and vice versa... and still you never hear of a person of darker skin one day waking to find they are fair skinned, or vice versa. Race is an inherited set of physical traits, by scientific definition. There is still much to be agreed upon as to the genetics involved in orientation and preference sexually. And then there's that whole problem of reproduction. How exactly does a homosexual relationship bring about the survival of this "race?" Oops. That's not bigotry or "racist" either, it is simple science. A race, or species even, is able to produce offspring by natural means. Preference of orientation does not equal "race"... has nothing to do with intolerance (and I doubt that's just IMO). Jackson may not be either intolerant or a bigot. But certainly he chose poor humor... as he said. I hear those types of jokes told by... say, that red headed chick from News Radio... but no one freaks out. Bigotry? Possibly. But I think not... not really. It may have just as well been bigotry to even make the movie he mentioned. I mean think about it. Just as much as it could be bigotry to portray things on sitcoms. It's perspective. Racist? Ummm, I thought the whole orientation did not = race discussion was over years back. I can't see it as a "race card" type moment anyway. Sorry if I offended any cowboys or horses.
