This game does not mean much of anything in the overall scheme of things. The Grizz still sucks. And they should be hoping that won't make the playoffs. Because if they play any of the Spurs/Mavs/Suns/Rockets/Jazz in the first round, they're still probably going to be sitting on that 0-for the playoffs.
I would love for the rockets to play the grizzlies. Fool yourself all you want, but the rockets are still a patchwork of a team with two all-stars. They used to say that you can't win in the west without an all-star power forward. But now, it is more, that you need an all-star back court to deal with all of these shifty guards. Think about it, who kills you the most now, tony parker or duncan? I fear parker more than duncan. I fear nash more than stoudamire or marion. The rockets can't stop any of these players. I'll say it again, if I were the rockets I'd trade Yao for wallace tarus thomas and hinric. You guys need more talent bad. Can u imagine having battier and wallace on the same floor, then u got hinric mcgrady and thomas. That would be a great team.
I like your enthusiasm, but I don't think the Rockets are ready to trade Yao "money ball" Ming just yet.
All I could think about was the Gay vs. Battier banter in this thread as we lost to the Grizzlies. Battier finishes with 0 points and Gay finishes with 15. I like Battier, but he and our other role players cost us that game. Battier played 33 minutes and took FOUR shots. He missed all four. Bonzi was 2-8. Mike James was 4-12. The only players outside of Yao and T-Mac to play a decent game were Chuck Hayes and Luis Scola. And Scola was only decent, not good.
memphis is just equipped to beat the rockets with their athletcism in the front court. just a bad match up
If ANY of our shooters would have been hitting anywhere near a .500 clip we'd have won that game. If all of James, Wells and Battier were taking good shots and scoring in double digits we'd have destroyed them. In fairness, the Grizzlies played fantastic defense. They're very athletic and they fronted Yao as well as I've ever seen it done. I'm still amazed he got to 20+ points considering how well they kept the ball out of his hands.
Dude, I said it before, that the rockets play right into the grizzlies' hands. They have no backcourt, penetrators. Mcgrady plays more like a small forward. The really don't like the makeup of the rockets, even though I LOVE Yao and Mcgrady, outside of those u guys field a JV team for real. You guys have no talent, no depth at all. I'm not saying anything yall dont know already.
You guys will soon learn how good RUDY GAY is. The guy is making some sick drives to the basket look almost routine. Watch sportscenter tonight and you'll see what I mean.
We were never going to keep Rudy, everybody knows he was not our pick. The point is moot. Congratulations on Rudy, I'm glad he is working out for the illustrious Memphis franchise. But seriously, the Rockets would NOT be better with Rudy and Rudy would not be better with the Rockets. Thank you for Battier.
He was picked by the rockets FOR Grizzlies. They made the trade before the 8th pick, and Grizzlies asked the rockets to pick Gay. If that trade didn't go down, Rockets would have picked another player (forgot his name).
