As a rox fan,i really didnt want to see we lose. But from what coach RA said,i wish we would lose 3 or 4 Continuous game so that he can realize how suck our PG is!At that time, someone should come out to be responsible for out lost. Then he would change the rotation so that he will not be fired! I would say RA is much more Stubborn, Dogma, Rigid than JVG!
Actually it's helped everyone. Yao's scoring is down but everything else across the board is better for him. The rest of the team is more open than ever. That's all you can ask from your offense. It's hard to find fault with an offense that gives you open shots. It is the players that are making it look so bad. Battier is missing wide open shots. Bonzi is missing layups, James is shooting the worst of his career and missing wide open shots and Rafer is missing everything, and taking shots that he shouldn't. Rafer should never try to create a shot on his own unless it's a a layup. Even wide open layups his hitting only 50%, but I'll take that.
If Rafer continues to struggle so badly I would be shocked if Adelman doesn't adjust his rotation to either give Luther more of a chance at PG or Brooks or Francis. DD
I for one am tired of seeing Rafer and Luther get all the chances in the world to prove themselves. I am now in the side of seeing AB and Steve get their shot at contributing.
I agree with Rick. Still too early to start making roster changes. But, I don't expect Rafer's play to change but James could improve. Francis still seems like a long shot to get minutes anytime soon. Although, he did seem happy last night cheering on his teammates and sitting in T-Mac's special chair when it's not being used.
Do you mean Big 3, Celtics? Yes they're good team, but they're in the East and they have 4 games against for ex. Hawks and have 2 games against Suns. We have 4 games against Suns and 2 against Hawks. That's a quite tough one,but I would grant that Rockets would have higher and better record in the East but again playoffs matter!
I'm not concerned, our role players are just cold right now. That being said, our defense was atrocious last night.
T-Mac and Yao have more easy buckets in 8 games this year than they did all of last season. Or so it seems. The shooting from players other than T-mac and Yao are way down from last year. Yet the results are the same. If it was same as last year, with the shooting from the role guys down, our results would also be down.
The first two of pre-season were good games for rafer after that he started sucking. He's been sucking since October 20th. That's nearly a month.
It is fairly obvious that everyone criticizing this team's offense as being the same as last year does not actually watch any of the games, and if they do, have very poor memories or simply do not understand the game of basketball. Regardless of how many points we are scoring or how similar our "offensive efficiency" is compared to last year at the moment, it is plain as day that our offense is vastly improved. We are getting so many open layups and shots off of backdoor cuts and doublescreens which simply were not there last year. Apart from the 1st half of the bobcats game, we have had very little trouble getting Yao the ball. All the problems of last year's stagnant "t-mac iso/yao post" are gone. The only problem with the current offense is that we are shooting the 3 poorly. We hit at a 37% clip from 3 last year with the exact same shooters, minus mike james who is supposed to be better than any of the incumbents, so you'll forgive Rick Adelman for expecting us to be able to do better than our abysmal 29% season average, all off of wide open looks. But you're kidding yourself if you think 3 pt shooting is a holdover problem from last year. The shooting woes as they exist now are an entirely different animal than the one that existed last year, and I expect it to be much less of a problem than our absolute inability to get any easy buckets last year.
Wow. Its looks pretty much the same. Writers have stated it, I think Rick even mentioned it was the same, I can see it. I guess your blind faith in protecting the coach at all costs shows that you are not even close in your assesment.
I'm not sure any writers, and especially Rick, have said our offense is the same. If you can point me to a source then I'll recant, but I doubt you'll be able to back up your statements. I have read, however, that our offensive ranking is similar to last year, but all that encapsulates is our statistical production. The honest truth is that we are getting easier looks en route to scoring the same amount of points. So, output similar: offense not. If you can't distinguish between the two then there's not much more I can say to clarify it for you. Maybe you have no preference, but the players definitely do. Ask the players and I'm sure they'll tell you this offense provides a plethora of different looks that did not exist last year. Oh wait, they already have. ""I felt very comfortable where I was getting on the court and shooting the ball from the paint or out to the perimeter; I felt full confidence," Yao said. "It's very simple and very easy for me. Now, they can't just focus on me. I can shoot the ball. I can make a decision. I can pass to the open man. I can set a screen and roll to the basket. I have too many things I can do. I have too many choices."" http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5227082.html ""There are a million ways to (defend) the splits, but a million ways to react to the way the splits are (defended,)" said forward Shane Battier. "You can do a dribble handoff, a tight curl around the screen, fake like you're going off the screen and cut backdoor. That's a lot for the defense to try to figure out."" http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/sports/5194395.html But most importantly.. ""It's going to take some time," McGrady said. "At times, we showed how great we can be as far as running it fluidly. At other times, we can be pretty bad, out of sync. The timing isn't there. It is going to come."" ""It takes a while," forward Shane Battier said. "When you're making shots, it's easy to make the offense work. What really good offensive teams in this league do is learn how to still stay efficient and effective when they are having a poor shooting night." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5253136.html IT IS GOING TO TAKE TIME. You don't transform an offense overnight. It is a work in progress and takes time because so much of it depends on knowing your teammates well enough to anticipate their motion, which ONLY comes from actual game experience. But despite the nascent nature of the Rockets offense, anyone with an iota of basketball knowledge can see the improvements from last year.
You should be mentioning Mike James' crappy play as well. At least Rafer includes some assists and is cutting back his shot attempts. Mike's taking the most shots on the team outside of 1-11, yet Rafer is the only guy on the roster with a lower FG%. Not saying Rafer's doing a good job, just that Mike needs to be tossed in. He has been poor. Evan
"What we have to do is find a way to get more people involved on offense,'' Houston coach Rick Adelman said. "We need more balance than we are getting.'' http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21780447/
