I can understand James/Alston/Head all playing bad and Steve still not getting a shot. We have a lot of "depths" at that spot, but why in the world does Scola get more minutes than Landry given his performance. We're not stacked up front and we'd need some size up there, we need to give Landry a shot.
BOOOOO This is much worse than the idea of giving Stevie a little playing time. I can understand that concept because he is a 3 time all star. Landry is a rookie who needs to spend time in the D-leagues and get some experience. Scola is not worthless, he is just taking a little while to adjust to a new team/coach/style of play/league.
right now he is. Maybe its Scola who needs the D-League. That guy has a deer in the headlights look out there right now.
I cant believe yall are hating so much on Scola after so few games. Seriously give the man a chance. Once he gets comfortable with the flow of an NBA game and gets used to his new role this guy will be huge for us.
MAYBE is the keyword but keep in mind that the same criticism was given to Yao when he entered into the league. In other words, give the guy some time before you give up on him.
The real hole in the team tonight was the difference between Rudy Gay and Shane Battier. One look at the box score line tells the whole story. We will pay and pay and pay for that bad trade for years to come.
like friggin landry is an upgrade over scola, he's a friggin rookie, this isn't NBA Live 08 where you get to hit the reset button if the game isn't going your way... I fear Gay will always use the Rox as a chip on the shoulder motivation for trading him away.
Yeah this thread is like "It's Time Aaron Brooks" Another untested rookie. These guys will never see playing time barring an injury. Maybe a few minutes here and there but that's it. At least Brooks and Landry stayed and Novak went. Clearly they are both better than Novak.
Don't like thinking about the Gay trade. I was pumped when we drafted him screaming at the top of my lungs, I dabbed my homie and said we finally did the right thing, and we traded him with Swift. I was pissed. I like Battier, but I only like to hear that glue guy talk when we're winning rings, not when we can't get out of the first round its' like how can you be a glue guy when we're in desperate need for players to step up, when you can't get out of the first round its' nobodys team its time to man up. What next you will hear about glue guys on lottery teams. Yeah would love for Landry to play he is the best shooter at that position, plus he could rebound. Those looks that Hayes have to pass up, he will make teams pay.
I think it's time to try Landry out. Just give him a few minutes and see if he can hack it. If he can, that takes pressure off of Scola, gives Yao more time to rest, and give our teams more options on D (especially if we're in foul trouble). If Landry can't hang, them move him back to the bench. We need help offensively. I'll take anyone who can help us in that department.
/vent on Hayes is not the problem. He consistently makes good PFs look stupid one-on-one against him. The only time he gets beat is when he is covering our PG's (aka Alston) ass on the pick and roll. I have decided Hayes is a better defender than Battier and almost certainly has a bigger impact on defense than Battier. He has stopped committing stupid fouls and the refs just give him no respect. He doesn't need to block shots because his hands are all over the place. The problem with Scola is he can't find his way into the offense. This results in him trying to emulate Hayes' role as garbage man/defensive presence. However, he sucks a huge one on the defensive end. He is basically useless right now. He is the biggest disappointment so far because we knew who Alston was. We knew who James was (although he is probably a little bit better than he's playing right now). Battier is horrible right now. I can't put my finger on how Adelman's defense is different, but Battier is less effective in it. I don't understand how a national player of the year cannot figure out how to score at least a little bit. I think we should attempt to shop Shane + Alston/James/Francis for a starter caliber PG. He is looking quite overrated right now and I have been watching the games. /vent off
I'd rather see Novak out there, or more Deke... whatever. I'm not ready to completely cut Scolas' minutes, but he looks awful so far.
