Well its not august 1st yet but he had a press conference saying he will sign with them. So basically he is a magic now. 6 year / 67.5 million. So where do you see the magic going now with hill and tmac? ------------------ "I talked about what degenerates they [Mets fans] were, and they proved me right. i can see them going pretty deep in the playoffs..maybe not the finals because they dont have any good big men right now..hill mcgrady and armstrong is a very talented trio..its just when they play teams with big men they will be dominated.. ------------------
Big thing is there aren't many good offensive big men in the east. Indiana is guard dominated (Miller, Rose), the Knicks are more guard dominated (Ewing is old, Camby inconsistent). Only exception is the Heat, but as long as you don't play them in the first round they are usaully gone by then Honestly besides Mourning how many other post players can consistently dominate in the paint? And Mourning doesn't even do it on a consistent basis. ------------------
Given how they played last year, I think a lot of fans will be disappointed with how they fare next year. I think they'll get more wins than last season, but will seed somewhere around 4th or 5th, and then get bumped in the first or second round. And then people will start to say that Hill can't be a team leader and that McGrady is overpaid and all that. Why? Last season, everyone played hard and were committed to the system because Doc was pretty much the biggest name on the team. With the turnover, they'll lose guys who had that commitment, get new guys who weren't part of the chemistry, and will generally feel like they don't have to work as hard with Hill and McGrady on the team. That's my prediction. ------------------ http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
This is from McGrady's web site: A Believer in Magic I am happy with my decision to play for the Magic and I’m excited that Grant and I will be two new additions to a great group of players. I will work my hardest to provide the Orlando fans with more exciting basketball. As I was growing up, my favorite player was Penny Hardaway, and it is a dream that I will be playing on the same court that he once played on. I hope that I can give the fans of Orlando a fraction of the excitement that Penny gave. I am also looking forward to working with the local media and doing my part in bringing a championship to my hometown, Orlando. Thank you all for your support and I will see you at the arena! ------------------ "Get up, stand up. Stand up for your right"-Bob Marley
JuanValdez, I agree, with two stars (sorry TMac, you a'int no superstar), the entire mindset of the team changes. The Magic are no longer that little team that could. Now teams know what to expect from them, and the supporting cast will physiologically be more laid back, thinking their two multi-million dollar teammates will take care of it. At the same time, I think both G.Hill and McGrady are outstanding all-round players, but to truly thrive, they need to be the #2 option on offense, IMHO. Also, the Magic are placing a lot of responsiblity on an immature, overrated 21-year old with no outside shot. TMac is a great athlete who has the world of potential, but he is not even in the same league as Hill or Duncan, and in my opinion not as good as less-sought-out free agents such as E.Jones or Rose. The Magic will do good and definatley contend, but they won't "battle the Lakers for the League's supremacy". The Rockets will. Azim da Dream ------------------ We don't live for the destination. The Pacers didn't really have a good big man (ie, center) and they made it to the finals. Orlando has a stud in Grant Hill, a semi-stud in Tracy McGrady, and a bunch of really great role players. I think that's all you really need to start working on a championship (of course good coaching and play wouldn't hurt, either). ------------------ Just shut up and post
