Stephon Marbury left the Knicks Tuesday morning upset about his role on the team, heading home to Phoenix. He skipped the morning shootaround and it appears he'll miss tonight's game. "We hope he's at the game," coach Isiah Thomas said. "If not, make no mistake about it, we do want him as a member of this basketball team. He is welcome back, and we want him as a member of this team." The abrupt departure could spell the end of his Knicks career. Nate Robinson will benefit.

Marbury is a crazy-boy. I wonder where he'll end up.

    From ESPN:

Marbury's contract is worth $42 million over the next two seasons. If the Knicks buy Marbury out, he'd be a free agent. He could also be traded.

Marbury is nuts. He just needs another the Knicks to buy him out so he can earn two salaries, because Sebastian is going to be asking for handouts for a long time.

I would take him at the vets min, just so Steve would have somebody to b**** to at the end of the bench.

Sooo... if he went home, doesn't that mean the Knicks don't have to pay him? I think you have to at least show up to honor the contract. Unless the Knicks totally bend over and try to kiss his ass, which is apparently what Thomas is trying to do.

It's a sad day because Thomas's team is disintegrating and he will be fired. We will no longer be able to laugh at his many screwups.

Remember a few years ago when it was a constant debate on this board about how is better, Franchise or Starbury?

Now it looks like that they will both share the fate of being released by the lowly Knicks.

As long as he won't come to Houston ,I will be happy.
If he comes to Boston ,they can get Kobe and still never to win a ring...

It didn't take very long for the Knicks fireworks to start. The thing is, IMO, Nate Robinson is a bigger Looney Tune than Starbury. Just give him a few years and his excesses will show up.

Basketball-wise, this is good for the Knicks. Now they can focus on winning games without the distraction.

It would be delicious if he ends up with Boston. The more I think about it the more I want it to happen.

    Wolves
    Nets
    Suns
    Knicks

Could it, by chance, be Marbury's fault?

    Please don't come to H-Town.

I don't blame any player that wants to get as far away from the Knicks as possible. I wonder if he is willing to walk away from 42M though.

Damn, I had the Knicks as a darkhorse to make the playoffs. Oh well...

Marbury said he will play in Italy when his current contract is up. Looks like he might get the chance sooner than expected.

Once the Knicks went to a more inside game with Randolph and Curry, Marbury was gone. He won't go to another team unless he's assured of being at least the second option on offense, so that rules out pretty much any decent team in the league. I could see him with the Hawks. Marbury and Joe Johnson would be a helluva backcourt. Plus, the Hawks could use somebody that can distribute the ball.

I would rather see a used condom in a Celtics uniform.
