There hasn't been a legitimate trash game yet. Do you ask Brooks to take his first minutes in a tight game down the stretch at Charlotte? I would love to see what Brooks can do, and we likely will if our current PG rotation continues to flounder, but we all should just wait for the right time. Francis is a bench warmer unless he gets motivated by all the speed around him. With him inactive at Charlotte, I might have given Brooks minutes at the end of the first half, after MJ showed he didn't feel like shooting. He will in all likelihood, contribute handsomely to this offense as he has the two qualities we need at the 1: speed and shot. Hopefully he protects the ball, but of course we will never know unless he gets a shot. If Adelman is not going to play Landry, Brooks, Novak, then I see no reason why they shouldn't be getting good floor time in D League. I guess RA sees them as a reserve option, but in all honesty, Novak and Landry are not expecting to play so why not send them where they can show us what they have? All we have are promising summer league showings to go by, granted RA and staff obviously have a much better understanding of their talent. I trust RA's rotational discipline, but question whether it is best for the younger ones' development.
He was active in the last game, an improvement in status that I suspect was made because SF had "personal reasons". However, I don't think that means he's going to get regular rotation minutes any time soon.
Since I have not actually seen the man practice I recuse myself from any response other than 'We should have draftede VY'. I do believe, I do I do, that if Deron Wms or Chris Paul were a Rock with this same roster we're talking CHAMP CITY!!!
I don't see AB getting meaningful minutes except in: 1) Blowout Rockets either up or down big in 4th quarter... 2) SF goes Awol... 3) Injury to Alston, James, SF or another guard... 4) Tanking season... 5) Trade someone... 6) JVG reappears as interim head coach during a 20-second timeout, and seizes control, ordering all all-guard alignment with Brooks playing the nominal PF spot... 7) Foul-out parade... 8) Team-wide flu... 9) End of the season leading into the playoffs, resting starters...
what about Sam's 2nd round, WCF, and NBA Finals stats? oh wait.. Rafer doesn't have those stats. AB will get some Playing time this year. Count on it!
I am all for developing AB. Francis probably will be gone after this year. Mike James is getting older, not younger and his game depends on being quick. Rafer, oh well. AB is our future at PG, bring him along, give him confidence. That said, I dont think he is seeing PT anytime soon, and rightfully so as every NBA coach on a winning team with 3 vet PG would do.
brooks wont get any PT if hes on the inactive list all season. he cant play in a suit, but last game steve was on the inactive list and brooks was dressed. i hope brooks stays on the active list and francis stays on the inactive list b/c brooks deserves to play more than steve.
About Time!......I was waiting for this thread........ If Rafer could just shoot atleast like half as well as he did last year (which wasn't really that great neither), then I say keep him as our starting pg-and yes Mike James should still be benched. But.......he's just wasting space and turning over the ball too much. We know that everybody (including Rafer himself) knows that he is losing his job (thanks to no one but himself), so its only a matter of time until they start giving Brooks some looks, maybe not now, maybe not this month, or until they're somewhat struggling, but I think a change will come this year. Bye bye Rafer
