What is the Worst Glitch/Bug/Crash You've Experienced in a Video Game?

I've been getting really frustrated with a bug I've recently experienced in Chrono Cross in the last couple of weeks. Well technically, it isn't a problem with Chrono Cross, but the PS1 software emulator on the PS3 (or at least I'm pretty sure that's the problem). Basically, anytime you use an Element in a battle (basically your magic or special abilities, although it also acts as your Items), the game may freeze. I won't really get into specifics, but if you're played some RPGs like this, you can understand why this may get frustrating. I've basically been avoiding the use of Elements in some boss battles and have done OK so far, but it is getting harder and harder to keep doing that (especially given the design of the game...ugh). Hasn't been a game-breaking bug yet, but I'm afraid it probably will be eventually. :(

It reminded me of the frustration I had with Oblivion. Deep into the main quest (IIRC), I kept experiencing bugs that kept me from advancing in the quest. Basically, I was supposed to find a particular item at a certain place, but it was never there like it should have been. Luckily, I was able to "patch" it myself by creating a mod for the game with the TES Construction Set.

Then there was that terrible bug with Superman 64. Basically, you would put the game in, turn the system on, and then you'd be forced to play one of the worst (if not the worst) games ever made.

WoW went through a couple of my video cards pretty hard. ATI and pre-WoW expansion just did not get along. Nefarian's room would routinely crash my computer and certain areas of burning steppes would cause my computer to overheat.

Neverwinter Nights had a pretty nasty bug where towards the end of the game an NPC I needed to talk to or kill was invulnerable and would not communicate with me pretty much wasting a good 10 hours of my time.

Oh man, I had the same trouble with Chrono Cross. I got a mod chip on my ps2, so I decided to make a copy of the Chrono Cross I had and sell the original for trade-in value. I guess it was a good plan and all, but whenever elements are used, the game freezes and it just...sucks.

I would try to replay the game before, but I rarely got far since it constantly froze, so I just gave up. I guess I may pick up a used copy if I can find one, although I've got the Wii and PS3 right now to keep me company, but I know how you feel..it's really frustrating.

In the Nintendo DS version of Age of Empires, if you have a 3 letter name and choose "Save and Quit" the cart itself will permanently "brick" and stop working. That happened to me and it sucked because I didn't keep my receipt. That's the worst bug I've ever heard of, I'm still pissed that the company didn't offer refunds to all the complaints.

At the very end of the game I got stuck in a Portal and couldn't finish the game.

it was diablo or diablo 2...cant remember and i dont remember all the details. But you are suppose to get a particular object from a chest after you fight through a barrage of badguys. When I opened the chest...i didnt get the artifact and thus couldnt advance in the game.

At the time i was unaware that i was suppose to get that object in the chest so I wonder around through every freaking level for the next couple of days because i think i am missing something else. Eventually, end back up at that particular chest. I open it and then it appears.

I remember when he used to love the Cowboys that much. He hasn't even put in an appearance in this week's thread. I wonder what happened?

At the time, I didn't know how bad it was. The ability to play as Superman, 3D graphics, saving the city by flying through giant floating rings, etc. How is that not a great setup for a video game?

Really? I was thinking it was just a PS3 issue (seemed liked a glitch that would occur with software emulation), but I guess if you had the same issues playing the game on a PS2 (if I'm reading your post right?), then maybe there is more to it than I thought. Time to do some research.

Wow....that's pretty bad. I can't believe I never heard of that one before.

I still love the Cowboys just as much as I always have. I think I've just gotten tired of talking sports on the BBS (sort of why I don't post much in the Rockets forum anymore), although I'll still make an occasional post here and there.

    Grandia on the PS1.

The game would freeze up at times. Never really got too bad though.

Madden always has some stupid bugs.

Both Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader and Icewind Dale would seem to work fine, but then I would get to a point in the game where it would crash every time I tried to go to a different area. It wasn't some specific point in the game either, I could go back to an earlier save and go through that same spot and it would work fine, but it would crash somewhere else. It would probably be possible to work around it, but it is so frustrating that I just gave up on both of those games.

While playing Dead Rising, there was this problem with discs, where they would suddenly stop reading. The Xbox would pop up a message saying the disc was not readable and it would kick you back out to the dash. Pain in the ass. Also once time I was playing GTA3 and I fell through the ground.. forever. Had to restart.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out.. I had just gotten to Mike and I pressed start for the first round.. the game froze and I almost crapped myself.
