Seriously that dude basically chokeslammed Kindle to the ground. A flag had to be thrown regardless of where the referee lives. What's more pathetic is that Leach complained incessantly about that call on the sideline looking like a complete buffoon. I guess that's where Harrell picks it up from.
wow, I wasn't expecting to see TT whining about the officiating. How can leach even b**** about those two calls, they were obvious. You lost, theres no whining in the Big 12
Yes, that's correct. I wasn't talking about what you said, Cohen, as much as I was saying that I thought DD's talking about "rush" was referencing the lack of a pass rush on defense.... Anyway, we didn't go to the game, but we tailgated on campus. I was there with my Tech wife and a bunch of Tech fans, so it was nice to pull out the win. I think the turning point was the pooch kick that Tyrell Gatewood recovered. By scoring there, Texas was able to keep a safe distance, point-wise, and continue to use the strategy of milking the clock and putting points on the board. By scoring TD's, rather than field goals, a team can overcome mistakes. By holding Tech to a FG here or there, Texas was able to control the game by keeping their own defense off of the field..... A good win, and if we can take care of the Aggies, we'll have a good shot at a BCS bowl. What happens the rest of the way with the other Big 12 teams will be crucial.
There were plenty of calls that went against Tech or no calls in favor for Texas. Just to name starting with the Touchdown to Shipley, his toe was in bounds but his heal was clearly out of bounds, another one was when that lineman helped push Colt forward, no call was made should of least moved them back 10 yards. The first touchdown they took back on review was the right call, they then took back the second touchdown for an apparent holding call, ok thats fine but the Texas rusher hit the QB late, but no flag was thrown, when the Tech player on like the first play of the game got called for a flopping job by Colt, little double standards. I could name a few holding calls that went "unnoticed" but that would take all day. Oh well whether you like Tech or don't you should have some litterally home cooking officials the big 12 should have at least found an official outside of the Austin living area, thats complete bull. Whether or not he was the guy that blowed all those calls I don't care too much about. Maybe a Red Raider fan can officiate the game in Lubbock next year.
I would agree the pooch kick was a huge lift for the Longhorns, everyone knew it was going to be a shootout, and when you keep exchanging points you will never win.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention on that interception our wide receiver got bumped way before the pass got there, no call was made. But thanks.
Come on...those were 2 clear calls that were right, not sure how you can complain about those. Leach just sounds like a sore loser if he is really going to complain about those 2 calls and blame the loss on the refs. Here is what Leach needs to look at and realize why they lost... Possession Time: Texas- 40:12 TTech- 19:48 Leach's offense puts up some ridiculous numbers and is sure fun to watch. But if you can't/refuse to control the clock and actually play some defense, it's going to be hard to win games whether its vs. UT or CU.
The first one no doubt Britton dropped the ball, the second one we got called for a holding penalty fine, but they dismissed the late hit that the Texas rusher laid on Harrell, those penalties should of then offset. As for Tech flaws there are plenty our defense would better off recruiting some junior high footballers who can possibly tackle for a lick. Tech fell down early so we had to try scoring quickly, I think we should of mixed up some more with the rushing game to get the defense some little breather. Leach should of kicked the fg when we got called for the holding/late hit call when it was 4th and 14. It would of made it a 12 point game, instead it stayed at 15, we finally hold Texas to a fg at other end now Texas is up 18, a 3 possession game instead of 2.
The Shipley TD probably shouldn't have counted, but the announcers said that it could have been considered dragging your toe (which counts), but I agree w/ you. As far as the lineman pushing Colt, it is an illegal play that happens every game but never gets called. Look at Bush/Leinart vs. ND a couple years ago, that was as blatant as it gets and it ended up winning them the game. It just doesn't get called all that much. It may have been a flop by Colt but you have to admit that it was a dumb play by y'all to even motion throwing him to the ground. It's a call you almost have to make as a ref if you're trying to protect the QB. Harrell had a nice little flop himself later on in the game that got called as well. If you want to blame the refs for the lost, that's fine. But you can't say we won the game just because one of the refs happens to live in Austin.
It was actually Chucky Brown who recovered the onside kick, Gatewood has been off the team for a while but I could see how you were confused as both wear/wore No. 1. Not trying to be a smartass or anything just giving Brown his deserved props. But that play was huge, I like how Mack attacked Tech this time instead of normally letting the underdogs take it to us with their intensity/bold plays. That kick and the fake FG when Shipley got the first down were both huge plays. haha great comeback man, I love how Tech fans talk so much **** before the game about how great their team is and how they were a few plays away from being undefeated and how Harrell should be a Heisman candidate. Then after they game they come up with the most out-of-this-world excuses for why they lost. Excuses are just like assholes Tech fans, everyone has one and they all stink so just get over it.
The Colt play yes first thing I said yelled at the TV screen was what a moron. I am not blaming the game on the officials Texas outplayed us, but I think the score would of been a lot closer if we got some of the calls. If Charles did not get hurt we would of probably lost by more. The fact is neither team played fabulous on defense, Texas played just a little bit better so they won. The fact is you can't have a local calling the game, that is complete bull. I would be more than willing to bet if Texas lost to A&M which is highly doubtful and that a College Station native was officiating the game, Texas coaches and fans would point out the same thing. But thats life I have always been a Texas fan way longer than being a Tech fan, only since I am going to the school this year I switched my loyalties, hopefully Tech can pull of an upset next week and help get Texas in the big 12 championship, think it will also take OSU to beat OU for that to happened as well. Oh well good luck the rest of the season and against A&M.
Wait these are the same clowns that officated last years game in the LBK. I support ya Leach.thats BS
Great comeback? Wow, that was the best comeback someone could come up with that is pretty sad, and someone who encourages a pathetic comeback like that is much worse. I am sorry. I didn't see any Tech fans talk crap before the game, I for one wished them good luck after last weeks games vs. Oklahoma State, and congratulated them. Tech has to compete for top recruits out from Oklahoma, Texas, A&M, and TCU. You guys are suppose to beat us every year and usually do. Ok thanks for being so unoriginal.
D*mn... my apologies to junglerules, guess I'm a little slow at 5 am. Better double-check the code I wrote then ...
You realize that you aren't the only person who roots for Tech right? I have plenty of friends who go to or went to Tech who cannot wait for this game because they think that they have the better team. Thanks for your support or whatever I didn't mean to upset you that much. It's just a game after all, and at least you guys aren't as bad as aggy has been in recent years.
Believe it or not, not everyone in Austin is a UT fan. IIRC, the Capitol Aggie club has thousands of members. How do you know the ref didn't go to A&M or Tech or OU? He could be a UT hater and want them to lose. Fact is, there is no proof that anything this guy did had any affect on the game.
