For those of you interested in the other conference final in MLS, today is the Eastern Conference Finals. Chicago takes on New England for a trip to DC and the MLS Cup Final.

The game is on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD.

I predict a New England victory 2-1. Steve Nichols is typically a conservative coach in the playoffs but I think Chicago scores first forcing his hand.

0-0 at the 15th minute mark.

This is a single game series, unlike the first round where it wa a 2-leg aggregate goals round.

    Full Time.

    New England wins 1-0.

Here's hoping for a rematch in the MLS Cup Final.

this is where the Boston Crap ends and the Houston streak begins!

Sunday the 18th-we beat New England, Second week in January we (ok crazy pipe dream) go into Foxbourgh and beat the Pats after our wild card win the week before than in June we sweep the Celtics.

on a side note, legend dutch player Ruud Gullit is the new LA Galaxy coach. This dude was an amazing player.

One of my favorite players ever. Absolutely crazy that they got him. No way that Beckham didn't have a hand in it. It's also no wonder that they let Yallop go so easily.

My buddy told me he heard Oliver Luck on the radio this morning saying they were expecting Robertson to sell out tomorrow night. Whats that, like 35,000? I'm gonna have to find somebody to go with me.

First off amazing player does not make one a great manager and ruud gullit is a great example.
Go on espn soccernet and read steve davis' article. echoes my thoughts on the gullit signing exactly. and i'm a huge fan of gullit as a player. Gullit and rijkaard were two of my favs.

Yallop was let go easily because he was terrible. Granted Lalas should have followed yallop out the door but lalas is a wily tosser and a terrible gm. He made sure yallop took the fall for all of lalas' horrible management decisions.

I agree that great players don't make great managers (see Marco Van Basten, some argue would have been the greatest of all time had he not been forced to retired at 30) and his first coaching gig is the HOlland nat'l team (my 2nd favorite team ;) ) but he sucks as the coach.

I don't know too much about Gullit's coaching style but I remember he coached Chelsea and was fired for politcal reasons. Hey, everyone deserves a second chance.

I've played this game longer than a majority of the posters registered here have been alive. Trust me, I know that greatness on the field doesn't necessarily translate to the sideline. I was just shocked that someone of Gullit's stature was coming over. He's has had some success (FA Cup w/ Chelsea). It could be more of bringing in someone who has played on the biggest stages in the world and is considered one of the greatest ever than his actual technical abilities. There is no coach in the MLS that has anywhere near the playing credentials of Ruud Gullit.

FYI, they also signed Cobi Jones as an assistant coach.
