Any of you Houston based BBS-ers know of a good pressure washing service here in town? I need to get my driveway cleaned. Thanks!
Hispanic? (Hey its cool I'm Mexican so I can say stuff like this on the BBS) RMTX: First I'd call around and see what you could rent a pressure washer for and compare that to some company would would charge you for the labor. I'd think you'd find it would be cheaper to rent a power washer from lets say Home Depot for the day http://www.homedepotrents.com/diyTools/washer_2000.asp and just do it yourself than to call an actual company out to do it for you. Or you could just take SwoLy-D up on his offer.
I own my own power washer so I can keep my house, trucks, fences and driveway clean, do most people not? RMT don't rent one if you want to do it yourself, email me.
I helped my mother buy my father a pressure washer for a birthday or Father's day, and I just borrow his. The best possible arrangement. But really, do it yourself.
If you can, just buy your own. If you use it every year or so it wont take long to pay for itself (vs renting them or paying somebody to do it). I bought one about 3 yrs ago and it sure is nice to have it just to wash out the garage or driveway.
I used to have a pressure washer, 1800 psi I think. I took me a long time to do my drive way, 2 hrs, maybe, very boring task. When I cleaned my siding, it peeled some of the paint. I gave the thing away. Now I wish I still have it. Renting is like $80/ day. Might have to buy a new one. What did I do wrong?
I do it myself. Advice Wear crappy clothes, dirt flies everywhere Wear closed shoes. I had a friend pressure wash off half of the skin on the top of his foot. He had to wear a sandal to work for a month It is tiring, take breaks while doing it. Wear sunblock, you think you will be done in 1/2 an hour but you end up being out there for 2 or more. Don't use the highest PSI to start, it will be a super concentrated stream and it will take your 10X longer to finish. Use a middle of the road one. Alsoif you use a strong oen at first it will take too much of the color out of the drive way and you will see it for a long time. If you use a gas powered one, let the engine take a break. Most of them use lawnmower engines and they are not meant to be on for 2 hours straight. i suggest doing it 30 minutes at a time, get a rum and coke, and begin again.
Yeah if you throw it on full blast watch out- my dad has one and we used the hell out of that thing to power wash all of the paint off of one of our rent houses so that we could sand / primer / repaint it. But definitely follow BigSherv's advice and you should be fine.
