When it comes to casual Rockets fans, I am usually forced to destroy them. Mentally, physically, intellectually, spiritually.

I actually hate talking to casual or r****ded Rockets "fans" because they'd mention the Rockets in the same sense that someone would say "nice weather huh?" or "how bout them Yankees?" kinda deal. Then of course, I'd bite and start going on a 20 minute speech about how I think the Rockets are gonna do and what they've been doing in the off season and all that other stuff. And I know they won't really care...

It's like when you meet someone and they say "hey, bill how ya doin?" and I'd go on a 20 minute rant about how my back is killing me and how shot my legs are after last night's pick up game and throat is killing from yelling at the game and stuff. People just don't care. And I hate it. btw my name isn't bill.

Then there's that inevitable "[insert player] sucks" and I'd go on another 20 minute speech defending that player. For some reason it's ALWAYS Yao that they pick on. Nowadays I just nod and walk away.. and hope to God they get hit by a hammer.

Most people will disagree with you, even though they don't know jack squat about the Rockets, just to piss you off. Some know I would marry the team if it were a girl, so they just piss me off out of spite. One thing I can't stand are those people who live here in Houston that are Spurs or Mav fans because "they're good." They don't even care.. but they say it anyways. I don't usually wish misfortune or injury upon people, but I hope some of these people would get bent sometimes.

At least your casual fan knows who hakeem is... I live in Virginia, and it is well known in my high school that I am the big rockets fan. So when people come up to me and tell me that they're a fan and start to talk rockets, they dont know ****!! all they know is t mac and yao play. Almost all of them are t-mac fans that follow him everywhere they go and see the rockets only when theyre on national tv or on sportscenter, its nice to have fellow fans, but they are soooo annoying. If you said the name Luis Scola to them, or even Chuck Hayes, they wouldn't have a clue wtf you were talking about.

I want to slap those people in the video, especially the girl at the end of the video with the mohawk.

Reporter: What do you think of the Rockets chances of going all the way this season?
Girl: Oh they're definitely going to! I love them!

WTF!?! The Rockets aren't going to go all the way just because you "love" them.

Yeah, it was obvious she didn't know anything.

Going off of what Yaozer said, I find it funny that I instinctively defend any Rockets player brought up. Kind of like how I can SAY my dad's an ******* sometimes, but if anyone else says something negative about him, I get offended.

Me on the bbs and the chat: "Man, Rafer sucks."

Random casual Rockets fan: "Man, Rafer sucks!"

My response: "Oh sure like running the point for an NBA team is easy! We won 52 games last year with Rafer guiding the offense, I highly doubt I would call that SUCKING! Not only that, but he lead the whole freaking team in 3 pointers made last year. YOU'RE AN IDIOT AND RAFER ALSTON IS ****ING AWESOME!"

    or something like that.

I think you all are rather fortunate to at least be able to speak to another person about the Rockets, even if not in depth. I have never personally known another Rocket fan all my life. Outside of the yearly game in Miami or Orlando, I never even see Rocket fans. Consider yourselves lucky.

That's video is fully of exactly the kind of people that would drive me nuts, esp. love the girls at the start who couldn't put together a coherent thought together between the 2 of them.

WTF was that about? Especially that last chick, I do remember her from that pre-game performance that was boring as hell by the way. Funny when she said "I think with everyones support, ESPECIALLY mine, they are going all the way!"

Anyone know what the lady asked that hispanic dude with the tmac jersey? and he answered "San Antonio" ?

It's fine. I am an overall sports nut. I have friends who try to play the role because they me, but I have learned that everyone isn't really into sports. Atleast they aren't in it to the degree that I am.

I know of a guy who acts like the biggest sports in the world, has viewing parties, orders boxing PPVs, etc. But if you asked him who Luis Scola is, he wouldn't have a clue. So when watching the Rockets, Texans, or Astros, he says the dumbest things. I used to try to educate him, but now I just let him sound ignorant. He just isn't much of a sports fan. But in reality, most people aren't.

She asked: Who is their biggest competition this season?

And about those two chicks in the start of the video, I'd hit it, they are HOT!

I have Rockets polos I wear everyday to work on game days, and people look at me nuts.

Oh, and I wear them in San Antonio and, now, Laredo.

I just like stickin it to people in Spurs town :)

But people won't even bother talkin Rockets with me, especially when I can recite every play and strategy by memory.

    No one caught my hint?

    I'm a has been.

btw- the video is typical Houston "fan" drivel. It was like that for the Oilers, maybe worse. And people said the Rockets stunk while they were defending their first title, too.

If you don't know... just say, "I don't know. I'm not a real fan."

About '93, I once prank interviewed people on the phone late one night, acting like I was a radio DJ, about the possibility of the Oilers leaving town... many people said they didn't care.. yet when I persisted, they would give up more indicators that they did care, but had moved on to the Cowboys. Why? Not because the Oilers were leaving... but because the fickle people of the greater Houston area were bandwagon, fair weather fans. Then, when the Rockets were repeating, many people I knew as "Rockets suck" sayers were all "Rockets rule" only to turn back the following year.

What? Do people live in George Steinbrenner land? Do they honestly think that a team is capable of winning every single year?

Most don't realize that a team rarely wins it all back-to-back, much less once in a lifetime.

I actually find somewhat more appreciation for the Rockets '93-'95 years up here than I do when I'm back down home. Why? Because locals have a "Janet Jackson" trip going. What have you done for me lately?

    Or...

    They're just idgets.
