No, I just thought starting a thread like this after TWO games into the season is pretty childish. He shot poorly the past two games and had ONE total assist in those two games. I am not a James hater. And he doesn't dribble the ball like Francis does. In fact, I had said before the season started that I thought James should be the starting PG for us. But I don't think he is as good as he thinks he is or deserves the way you constantly rave about him. He's a career 12/4 guy. A decent NBA PG at best, no more no less. Alston, Francis, Head, and Brooks all have glaring weaknesses as PG. Alston is the better passer. Francis is the better 1-on-1 scorer. James is the best all around player at that position compared to these guys, but that doesn't say much.
so you're saying you are going to bump it after every game? Otherwise, saying "James is the best all around" leaves me lacking as to how to rebut. I never said James was a max player. But for what he is, he's good.
Per 48 minutes he is taking the 2nd most shots on the team behind TMAC. Technically he has the 8th best FG%. If you don't count Deke and Hayes he has the 6th best FG%
He's also shooting the 3-pointer at 40%, which puts his TS% at 4th best on the team (behind T-Mac, Yao, and Battier). And he hasn't turned it over much, so his ast:to ratio is pretty healthy, a shade under 3:1. Overall, statistically he's got the third best PER on the team at 19.6, so far. Bonzi is fourth at 13.6. I don't mean to say he's our third best player, but by the numbers he's done alright. A great spark off the bench.
I don't mean to bump the thread. I am traveling, not getting online very much. So I'm just behind in replying. You never said James was a max player. If you did, you'd lose all your credibility. But it is pretty obvious that you are very fond of his game. You take every opportunity to clobber those "haters." As someone has pointed out, there aren't that many James haters here that warrant a campaign to defend him. Everybody has his favorite player. Liking James is not a crime. Starting a thread like this, however, puts you among those knee-jerk posters.
Mike James, explosive playmaker, can create his own shot and go in the lane and create shoots for himself and his teammates. Knows how to dribble and can burry you from long range, also has good understanding of the game. Issue? He has BIG ego,he wil take 20 shots and miss all of them and take again his 21st shot and make it. Interesting player,It's good to have him back. When Bonzi and Mike are on fire along with Yao and T-Mac with help from Battier,Alston,Scola we're very tough team to beat. After 4 games,I can only say we improved at PG position getting Mike James. You can't judge him on 4 games.
Sam, myself and others have been talking Mike James for a year and a half and we've heard anything you can possibly imagine about him. The Rockets have zero interest in him, they value a future second round pick more than him, no one wants him, he can't pass, he won't pass, he and T-Mac hate each other, his Toronto year was a ballhoggish fluke or contract year, he will be bought out, etc. ... all the while hearing that Rafer is pretty much the primary energy source for the sun. Trust me, there are haters out there. There are some threads that should be required reading to that extent: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=125594 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=124485 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=126235
My favorite was when Rockets111 told me that James, if on the Rockets last year, would put up a siimilar performance to rafer, "just with four or five more turnovers per game" - quadrupling his career average and setting an NBA record in the process.
The Rafer bashing is worse. It even goes on during pbp in the game chat. It is horrible. R2K has to kick people during chat for it too. I wish all of this would go away and we would just support our team. The GARM is now much worse than the D&D.
rafer and james. two polar opposite styles of play. two sets of haters/defenders on each side. yet they make a great tag team at the 1 spot. i think these two sides need to sides need to be mashed together into a happy sandwhich like peanutbutter and jelly. it just works.
With all due respect, I don't think the James hating is that serious. A lot of these "haters" aren't very intelligent posters in the first place. Most people are relatively fair about him, whether liking or disliking his game. IMO, the Yao haters, T-Mac haters, Francis haters, Rafer haters, Bonzi haters are much worse. But then, I guess the lovers of these players are much worse than James lovers too. And I guess, liking or disliking James is directly related to disliking and liking Alston. I can understand the emotional antagonism because of the trade. But it is hardly fair objectively.
i'm amazed at how divided the bbs is this season. if ever there was a season to unite rocket fans into just chearing thier team on to another victory, it should be this year. each player has thier faults and if you really wanted to (and i can tell most of you do) you can nit pick and complain about those details. the truth is, no player is perfect but together they really mkeup for eachothers defficiencies. no two are a more perfect example of that then alston/james.
wow, it 's so smart for you to dig this thread out man, maybe we should start another thread:After eight games, what is a James Lover to do?
