I have half-season tickets in the lower bowl, and I can attest to the fact that the lower bowl was probably 60-75% full. Remember, it was a Tuesday night in the first week of the season, so that probably had a lot to do with it. The upper deck seemed like it was pretty full though, and they seemed to really be getting into the game. The one thing I find really disturbing though is that the crowd is really at its loudest when the cheerleaders and crowd patrol come out and start throwing free s**t. It's so embarassing to watch grown men and women act like fools just to get a free rubber ball.
I was standing up at the beginning of the Portland game because the whole crowd should not sit until we score. Some b*tch behind me kept on saying "down in front". After three times of me ignoring her she said "sit the f*** down." I turned around and told her to go f*** herself. This all took place in less than a minute, because Yao got a free throw on his first possession. Stand up until your f***ing team scores, Jesus.
Oh ho....snap...owned. These crazy, dillusional SOF's are crazy if they think Steve can do better than Tmac during the playoffs. If it wasn't for Tmac we wouldn't even have made it to the playoffs last year.. Granted, though, he was the who f**ed us up in Mavs playoffs series when he lost the ball after Stackhouse missed the free throw. So its fair game, but Tmac deserves more credit than what he is getting
2 things- 1- this tv problem could be solved if the stadium adopted a staples center technique, where only the lights on the court are on, that looks badass as it is... makes u focus on the game, it really feels like "showtime" whenever they take the court (from an aesthetic perspective, obviously not talking about the team itself). 2- it there any way we could get a list of the companies that have lower bowl season tickets? that way, we could write letters to either a-make them more aware and get people in the seats, or b- give away the tickets when no one wants them.
The problem is that most of these places use those tickets on clients and once they give them away, they have no control on anyone going.
Yes it was sad I hope game like this had to be full house of noise. I guess people still not beleive Rockets this year is for real. It is up for the Rockets to prove that this year they will come out the West because whoever comes out the West will be the best.
This is dilusional. I believe that Francis should be playing over Head right now, but you cannot argue that that team was better. Francis and Cat would not even have sniffed the playoffs again after their loss to the Lakers. That is why we pulled the trigger on T-mac. First year we are in the playoffs. We took it to seven games. This year we have built a good team, which should include Steve in the rotation, but not feature him in the least.
If the Rockets had any recent history of going deep in the playoffs, and actually threatening to contend, the fans would be more into it (even the corporate big-wigs who are simply going because they have access to tickets). This city was ENAMORED with the Rockets from 95-99... and seats (very expensive seats) were hard to come by simply due to the interest. From 2000-Toyota Center, the Summit was VERY empty due to lack of interest and mediocre teams... this wasn't some Lexus Lounge only phenomemon. If the team has a deep playoff run, fans will pack every seat, not wanting to miss anything... Houstonians have proven as much for EVERY sports team that has ever played here (Oilers, Astros, Rockets). But... if they continue to flounder like they are now (first round and out), why should the fans pack the joint every night?
so if i buy a $10 ticket i will be able to sit in the lower bowl and make the arena look more full on television, and then at that point you also give me the right to talk about it? i'm not sure i follow that logic. again, my ass sitting in the nosebleeds is not fixing the problem. it's great that you go to every game and you organize events so that other people can get involved also, but not everybody has the flexibility at work, etc that you do, to attend all these games. it's not about being "cheap." yes if the rockets had more fans like you, the arena would be a heck of a lot better but i seriously doubt the people you want to rag on about that is the diehards at clutchfans. the lower level seats are sold, the problem isn't getting new people to go to the game, it's about getting people who are already at the game, in their seats.
again, they just need to do their part, and I will GURANTEE you those people that are not in their seats will never see the light and day of these wasted threads....
not very related to sellout or not but i really dislike some of the hardcore fans that try to force others to act like them. People enjoy the games their own different ways, why can't people understand that? Some are loud, some are quiet and just want to enjoy the game. I especially hate it when I'm at a sporting event with my family. I want to talk with the kids and explain stuff to them. Of course I'm not going to be shouting the whole time like a moron. Oh well, the only fans whole visit clutchfans are probably the hardcore fans anyway.
No, it's actually on number of restaurants, avg. driving distance between destinations, # of parks, etc. It has nothing to do with the actual size of the people.
Houston is second in the US in Fortune 500 Headquarters, trailing only to NY. NY has 20 million people and tourists who want to go to MSG. So the business corporations do matter. What the team should allow is for the people in the upper seats get into those seats in the 4th quarter.
Rockets need to buy some hologram machines and create images of people sitting in empty seats Or move people down...
