I thought about changing it to just "Bush and Clinton". That way you can apply it to either George or either Clinton if Hilary lands herself in the oval office. I didn't think about that until after I had posted though... but yeah. FLOPPERS SUCK!
did anyone notice manu lose his balance on defense during the second half? there was no rocket near him, but for some reason, he just started falling. it was pretty funny b/c it looked like he was trying to get the refs to call a foul on the air around him. IMO, the five most ridiculous floppers currently in the NBA: 1. devin harris 2. manu ginobili 3. derek fisher 4. dirk nowitzki 5. kobe bryant (he cries about fouls more than he flops on defense, though) dishonorable mention: bruce bowen sleeper: fabricio oberto
yeah, in soccer game, flopper fined by a yellow card for each, two yellow cards will kick him out of the game
I've always been for this type of system, but think it should take less than 16 flops to get suspended.
It's sad because I used to really respect the guy as a player, because of his talent...but that flopping almost made me want to go out and take his head off.........I seriously wish we'd put in one of our bench scrubs to knock his ass to the ground...give em something to flop about....Manu = a puss.
I suggested the same thing last night after Manu's 10th flop.....the NBA HAS to do something to take this B.S. out of the game......no "man" playing the game of basketball should ever flop around like a little school girl to get a call....it brings down the integrity of the game I love....
FTFY. By the way, if any of you has it recorded, go back and watch the 1st quarter of last night's game. There was this 2-minute sequence or though where Oberto just started to flop madly around the perimeter like he was having an epileptic attack. Whenever a ballhandler came within 2 feet of him, he would just jerk his head back as though he was trying to dodge a Floyd Mayweather haymaker or something. He kept doing it over and over again -- comical to watch.
I am pretty sure they proposed making flops a technical, much like in soccer, this off season. Did nothing ever happen on that? Appears not, but it would assuredly discourage players whose games are dramatically derived (ALA most spurs). After a few players got T'd up for acting, or even if they were legitimately fouled, it would set a precedent of worrying about your game more than you worry about working the refs, something American basketball could desperately used. The threat of players who were actually fouled getting a tech undeservingly, is far less than the threat of players getting fouls called when no foul was committed.
the league definitely needs to take a look at the tapes after the game a administer fines accordingly. in all my years of watching basketball, i can't for the life of me remember a more blatant flop. i was disgusted that a player could have so little integrity that we would do something like that.
Nothing has to be done if the referees ignore obvious flopping. The flopper will be lying on the floor leaving a five on four situation. If uncalled, the floppers will quit. EOS / FTWC
I think the NBA should fine the officails for making these types of calls. That way they really only call what they see.
Baron Davis has to be on that list. He's not an "all out" flopper, he just whiplashes his head back when someone drives on him. But that stint he pulled on Okur is the best (or worst) flop I've ever seen called.
this is the best flop ever <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/s0upQDkY-pg&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/s0upQDkY-pg&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
