$98... will hit $100 soon... i just bought a bike. will be commuting to work on it. im afraid of how high gas prices will jump plus i can get in some exercise instead of sitting in traffic for 1 hr.
This is like waiting for the heat in Arizona to eventually hit triple digits in the summer. You know it is coming, you just don't know when.
Ya, if they would only put more bike lanes on the streets, it is pretty hard to ride a bike with a cars right next to you.
tru that. i wish they would extend the hershey park trail to go into downtown. that would be awesome.
What I do not understand is how oil has quadrupled in less than 4 years? I heard one guy say that it was because from 1985 to the early 2000s that oil was extremely under priced. So what is it? I am confused.
Growing public acceptance of worldwide peak oil, currently unverified but very real in the minds of investors and consumers Tightly integrated oil corporations with small inventory capacities magnify refined gas hiccups out of proportion with real supply Worldwide liquidity bubble from low interest rates Emergence of the developing world, worldwide growth in the past 8 years unprecedented China's temporary oil consumption spike in the mid 2000's when they ran a temporary coal shortage Loss of Iraq as a known oil exporter Sharply falling value of the dollar gives greater incentive by producers to make less in order to earn more. Growing usage of oil and other precious commodities by investors as a proxy for worldwide growth ??? ??? Profit?
The Honda Civic Hybrid. Love it, I went with it based upon a Consumer Report test I read that it came closest to meeting the actual advertised MPG in their testing. Mine was listed at 48 city 51 highway If you drive the posted speed limits and really watch the heavy foot you can get that easy. The only thing I will tell anyone looking is that you can't drive 70 mph and get the mileage. When I drive 60 mph I average right at 50 mpg When I drive 65 mph its about 46 mpg, and if you are doing 70 mph on the freeway it will be anywhere from 40-44 mpg. In town you get the high mpg when you keep the speed at about 30-35 mph. In stop and go traffic I avg. 40-44 mpg depending on how the traffic is moving. The car has a computer read out that gives real time mpg and I have checked it for accuracy when I fill up several times and it is spot on. So you might be disappointed if you have a heavy foot on the gas pedal. The price was in line with what I had budgeted- $21,000-23,000 and I got a $2000 tax rebate which was nice. So the net cost for me was about $19,000
Cool! I looked at them and the only reason we're not going that way is we both have bad backs and the seats just don't cut it for us. If it wasn't for that, I'd seriously consider one. I love Hondas and have an Odyssey van. It has a huge V6 that runs on regular gas, turns on a dime for a 4300+ pound van that seats eight, and the V6 turns off 2 or 3 of the cylinders if they aren't needed, increasing the mileage. We average around 20, but I don't know if that's typical. Damned good for its class. I'm looking for a very comfortable sedan that's a hybrid and runs on regular. Still looking. D&D. It shouldn't be surprising when you've had a war going on in the country with the second largest proven reserves the last 4 years.
Thanks god oil price is staying sub-100. Even people are already used to $3 gallon, the psychological impact is bigger than the wallet.
