Some of you were bored of the game? Well, I yawn when I see the Spurs play but they do win championships. Even if Yao and Tmac average like 15 points per game, if they win the ring, they'll be recognized as one of the best.
This was, to use a Drexlerism, a signature game. I am very impressed that the Rockets could come off a back to back where they literally blew the game in the last few minutes and, though obviously tired, recover and beat the World Champs. I love the way the RA moved Yao to the low block to finish the game. That, essentially, finished the Spurs. AND, you can't tell me that Bonzi couldn't have had an impact at some point last season. Maybe not early, but certainly at some point. I just hope Francis is not this year's Bonzi. This is easy, if Bonzi plays like this every night for the rest of the season, see you in the NBA finals.
I was at the game and seeing it live was special. We were really short handed after Hayes left for stitches and Scola got 3 early fouls. The Spurs probably thought they had it easy when they saw Mutombo come in to play along side Yao. It was great seeing Mutombo dunk and the reaction by Yao.
This is sort of things Stern wanted to crack down last year. I know we won, but send the tape to the league office. Also who's that young puppy ref, MF calls fouls on us like he is Ducan's posse.
4-1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After the slow starts in years past, this is awesome. I knew this team was deeper and better, but I never expected to come out of the gate on 4-1. next up, the Milwaukee Bucks, Rockets need to take care of business.
My observations of the game: 1. Scola has showed his rookieness against the Mavs and the Spurs which is really no surprise. Part of the problem is that his offensive game is a finesse game and that takes longer to translate to this league. The other problem is of course that in this team he wont get anywhere near the touches he has been accustomed to for so many years. Im not worried about him however. It will just take some time. 2. Bonzi is very important to this team. Im glad he is back and his head is in bball rather than silly feuds with his coach. 3. Yao needs to be more careful with the ball but after so long i dont think much will change. On the other hand he showed tonight that he is more clutch than Tmac and should get his share of touches in the 4th quarter. I suspect Adelman made a point of getting the team to give him the ball today. Its my understanding that Tmac took most of the important shots last game and things didnt turn out so well. Adelman probably wanted to try out a different tactic. 4. I would not be opposed to seeing more of the twin towers in special situations. Seriously.
Everyone talks about Yao and Bonzi after the win. I think T-Mac played smart tonight. He shared the ball when he found he had an off night. He fight the board. This is one of the keys to win this game. Had he done so last night, we probably would be 5-0 now. Great win. one note, the TO is high.
Desmond Mason, with the Bucks, just said on NBA tv that they should be alright against the Rox this Friday. It was funning listening to his defensive strategy about keeping a man on Yao on the low post and doubling T-Mac. he obviously has not watched the Rockets tape yet. He's in for a suprise.
showing some good in that game against the mavs, and then HANDLING the spurs! WHO'S NEXT?!?! rhetorical question
