    Good post...

What's the panic for? Terry got hot. Dirk got a lucky bounce.

    And?

We're tied with the Mavs for first at 3-1.

78 games left last time I checked.

They beat us at their own. I'll say they are better when they beat us at OUR home.

Sorry I don't think so though they won tonight. Talent wise I believe we are even better than them. Unfortunately our benches did not play well.

Exactly right. They're a better team at the moment but we have a lot more potential to top them. We're a "new team" with a new coach and uur bench didn't show off tonight. We will get better at some point of the season so don't panic!

I agree, the momentum will shift into another gear once Francis cracks the rotation. I truly believe he is the missing piece that will put Houston over the top. Make him the point off the bench and move James to the 2 off the bench and it should be the final tweak.

    c:Yao/Mutombo
    pf:Hayes/Scola
    sf:Battier/Wells
    sg:McGrady/James
    pg:Alston/Francis

Francis,James,Wells,Scola off the bench and Rockets will be fine.
You want Francis with the ball when McGrady and Yao rest so he dont take shots away from them when they are on the court. James can score anywhere, he will be to us what Terry is to the Mavs. Wells and Scola will get theirs.

Not to stray from topic, or rehash any Sf3/MJ pg controversy arguments, but I don't think Steve would have helped against a team like Dallas. We needed the speed guards to keep up with Terry (who I think is normally trash, until the Rockets play them and he always comes out killing), Steve would have been left in the dust.

The Mavs are not better by any stretch of the imagination, the new bench allows us to play small ball at their speed as well as they can for the first time in recent Rocket seasons. We hung around, and fell victim to the zone. If we hit a few shots we SHOULD have hit, and cut back on one or two turnovers then we win this game. The Rockets lost this game more than the Mavs winning. Hitting that three was thee nail in the coffin, but we didn't help ourselves down the stretch. We missed our clutch shots, and they hit theres. They know how to finish because of the experience factor, which is an area that our team can only improve. Be optimistic, we have the tools to compete with anybody! Great time to be a ROX fan.

The Mavs r definetly better right now, but it's still early. I'm kinda concerned on how well our pgs r gonna defend. I think they r either too small or too slow to keep up w/ the tops pgs in teh league ie. deron williams, chris paul, baron davis. Paul kills us everytime.

Just how i feel, i think Steve has alot to prove. The game could have went either way actually. Im just thinking about where Steve fits in because he could have helped on the offensive end of the court tonight. Sure James can play the point but he can also play the 2 spot better than Steve because he moves without the ball better. Through out Steve's career he has always excelled at the point as the playmaker/scorer, why change now i dont understand. Adelman invisions him playing the 2 spot just like NY did because we have James who can also play that spot, thats why Head gets the minutes because of his range. Moving Steve to the 2 spot really takes his stregth on the court away just like NY. He has to have the ball to be creative and penetrating defenses going to the hole. Its a strange guard tandom we have ATM, but i think its best to utilize Steve's stregth at the 1 spot rather than James (who can also play the 2 because of range (Head))

One game. The scored more and we scored less, other than that can you tell us exactly how they are better than us.

Good post, I agree. All signs so far (which admittedly lacks any all important playing time) point to SF3 making a lousy comeback, being out of shape and possibly having lost several steps. He has been superhuman in Houston, we have all witnessed but he must prove that he still retains that playmaker mentality, and MORE IMPORTANTLY if he can adjust his passing game to accommodate the sexier offensive options.

I just want to see him play, but Adelman's refusal says a lot about how he feels Steve's conditioning is. I trust they know more about the current status of his condition and my thoughts are based on this speculative media coverage and bbs conversation, so what the hell do I know.

I like this idea though only when we plan to go small only though.

Francis WILL get minutes, and he MUST grab them by the balls cause if he starts slow, it could end quickly too. This might he last chance to prove himself to many skeptical NBA personal.

Kind of a discouraging loss because so many Mavs were out with injuries. I guess it really doesn't matter who else is on the floor if Nowitzki, Howard, and Terry are out there. Those guys are Rocket killers. We will get better, though. We were right there...just couldn't pull it out.

We didnt get beat, we beat ourselves.
You have to play a full game with the Mavs.
No letting up. no key turn overs. no mistakes.
We could have easily won this game.
I would have a worse feeling if we would have gotten beat by the Mavs.
They are a new team w a new system and really havent had to implement and execute down the stretch much.
This type of loss should easily be avoided come playoff time.
And that responsibility rest on Rick As shoulders more so than the players.
No one has ever won them all.
I view a loss at the beginning of the season to last years #1 seed on their own home floor acceptable for this new team.
